I guess it would be possible to 35mm holesaw each corner on the base to house a welch plug when super crazy heat is not needed. Can only imagine how bloody hot it would get inside cooking charcoal...

For sure mate! I like to cook with 2 x thermometers. First (the greasy looking one pictured) for inside the oven and second is my favourite little digital spike probe one for quick door open drouling...
