reporting back on this, i tried with the stalks from a d21 and the unit is compatible and pretty much the same, only difference is the connector for the lights, its almost the same but...

i had always thought the GR was the previous model!!!!!

im going to try with the stalks from a 90s pickup truck, the d21. will post my findings here

mine is 24v and high roof, is that why its called safari and not patrol? makes sense anyway but i thought it was just the jdm name for patrol
