Ok so if you want to narrow it down you could clamp off the front and rear flex lines to the diff's with vice grips and try the pedal then it should be hard and have no travel. If that is the case...
If the steering is light all the time in both directions I would guess you have snapped/damaged the torsion rod in the input shaft which controls the amount af hyd assistance based on load. As for...
Got a set in Townsville They are Dirty out of the 89GQ i am wrecking $50 for my time to remove em and ther yours you just have to get em south
Can anyone tell me what Ratio diffs would have come in a 07/92 Built GQ LWB wagon with a TD42 and Auto trans? My parts rig is a TD42man trans '89mdl which I believe should have 4.11's. I would...

Sounds like a boost leak check all your intake clamps and hoses on boost side. The soapy water test would not be conclusive unless you pressurise your intake with compressed air as you will find...
The pinion flange is the bit that the driveshaft bolts to at the diff, If there is a bearing going you will usually get metal on your drain plug so it might pay to drop the oil and check. If there is...

What kind if smoke do you get when missing white/ black or none? When did you last service the air and fuel filters? When it is hot and running rough try cracking the injector line to each injector...
If you notice it in both 4th and 5th and it is only when you back off it is likely to be the diff, jump under and have a look at the rear pinion flange is the seal leaking/flange loose. My guess wool...
Good to hear you are onto the problem
As for your theory about not needing a fan on the open road this may have been true in the old days when radiators were large and had an unobstructed path for...
If that fan is the only one I would not be surprised if it overheats, there would not be a 14" electric fan on the market that would have enough flow to do the job that I am aware of. I tried a high...
thanks tony
Thanks Tony is the difference easy to spot? I am looking for one for my TD42 which has an auto at present fitted. I have located a manual gearbox and other required parts except a flywheel.
Can anyone tell me if the TD42 and TB42 flywheels are the same???? I would expect they would be different but I dont konw? If someone knows for sure that would be great!!
Cheers Andrew
