I found that my hinges were the culprit when it started to make noises.......
pressure clean, and some graphite, worked well for about 2 weeks

for the sake of 5 kilo's, I would not be touching or modifying the towbar, you are basically being a 2nd manufacturer, and would need to get it tested and certified, in case something goes pear...
the inlet pipe shows it is from a truck chassis, so the inlet is no good for anyone
