The GU really is a solid reliable vehicle. Basiclly the only issues I've had is a few electrical issues.

They were designed with the bullbar mounted LED bars in mind.
Chain the cage to the tow bar so when they move, the cage does also.
Speak to a local engineer who deals with vehicle mods. He should be able to put you on the right track.

I've had my GU headlights HID'd for many years now and the ideal thing was to upgrade the headlights to the series 3. They don't throw the light all about like the earlier series lending themselves...
If you were ever to see one of these motors in any Nissan beyond the Y61, it would'nt be a vehicle worthy of heading of any dirt road!
