just my 2c's worth add to list seatbelts not freyed and retract well, foot pedal rubbers not worn, no tears in seat coverings. all door locks working (if central locking it should work too?)

blow by is just EGR right? I don't like the idea of it either but can you get a catch can that looks professional and like a factory fit so as to pass a quick roadside inspection and not get pinged?

my 2c's worth, white smoke is usually burning oil, blown rings, piston or turbo seals. have had blown turbo seals and that is LOTS of white smoke...
I would be very carefull about running without an air filter in even around the block. any dust etc in the intake anywhere can damage your turbo very easily. I have had a nasty experience with this...
I have a TD42Ti as well and have been told that you should block the EGR off. What is the advantage in this and are there any trade offs or disadvantages? its for pollution control, right?
