Website: your "guided search" isn't working.
In near-forty years of driving I've hit and killed three 'roos. The first was dead from the impact. The second needed to be dispatched with a shovel (and the hairless joey was given the same). The...
"I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong." :)
Wasn't there someone selling a catch tray that bolted to the side of the engine? I've used a plastic ice-cream container at times, just jammed in under the filters. Messy job.
Sounds pretty much like mine. Usually in the bottom third of the dial, but occasionally will sit very near the top, especially in summer on a long hill with a heavy trailer or load on.
Also waiting on a set of GU-style hub locknuts and tool - hopefully tomorrow.
New brake pads all round. Found Repco is clearing out some GQ front Ferodo pads for $15 a pair - bought two pair!
Someone must have sold off a fleet recently. I saw one of these (ex-ambulance) in a Canberra car sales yard this afternoon.
From what I know of ambulances they tend to be very heavily built, and...
Funny - I was doing a search earlier today on shrouds. Mine is missing the lower clip-in section. Have a look at http://www.patrolapart.com.au/product/cooling/fan-shroud-suit-gq-tb42-amp-2/.
What's involved in a thorough service for a three-row copper-core radiator (GQ 4.2 diesel)? I want to talk to a couple of local radiator shops to find one I can trust to do a proper job, and need to...
Good spot for it. I did that once and had a line to a bayonet fitting on the bullbar.
Is that a fuse holder in the wiring? Don't forget to put another fuse next to the battery.
Just for info, here's the LRA instructions for fitting the belly tank (fitted to my GQ TD 42). The transfer pump arrangement works fine and is pretty simple to set up and trouble-shoot.
Would it be silly to suggest a switch to leave the fuel solenoid closed, then crank the starter until the oil pressure light goes out?
How big a group can the campsite at Lake Cobbler accommodate? Several groups from my club will be in the area in March, and we're looking at getting together there for a night (would be mid-week)....
How are recovery hooks made? Looking at the broken one above, I'm guessing it was cast rather than forged? (Are these the right terms?) The surface where it broke looks very crystalline. Would a...
Ooouch! I'm starting to think there's no ideal way to set up for a "snatch" or "kinetic" recovery!
Hi Guys, great to read all the good advice in this thread.
I just wanted to put this one out there for information and comment. This is a recovery point that fits in the Hayman Reece square hitch...
Hosed the dust off the GQ after coming home from Charlies Creek. We had a quiet NYE there with two other parties present. I think everyone else was in bed by 11:00!
I scanned plenty of maps and calibrated for Ozi in the old days, before digital maps became readily available. It's a shedload of messing around. First you have to scan them, and unless you have...
Depends where you measure it. I have a supplementary VDO gauge with the sensor in a fitting in the top radiator hose.
Easy running in cool weather = 70 degrees.
Uphill on the highway with...
There used to be another Chris in the club I'm in - and with the same surname too! I became "Chris the Younger".
I'm hoping it will make it to half a million at least! It's passed 320,000km now...
Newby to this forum but I'll throw in my thoughts: I have an auto box in the GQ and the gearing is therefore taller than manual, and an air-locker was already in the front axle when I bought it....
Now that's the second lot of good advice in this thread! :)
Thanks for the welcome Dhuck. You don't have a cousin down here do you? You Ducks seem to get around! :)
