make sure you have the correct fan fitted, my 4.2 na temp rose quickly when fitted with wrong replacement fan.... which was smaller in radius but had a xtra blade... cheers Barry

how much suction should there be after a 3 hour run from full tank, the DX ute 4.2 took a good breath when releasing the fuel cap today on a run from gladston to gold coast, and how do you go about...
try and put a slot in the end of the bolt use a small diameter drill, like a screwdriver slot, apply heat , then smack it with an impact driver.... worth a try ...good luck Barry , Gladstone QLD
mine does the same 4.2 d 2000 dx ute , fine when not towing, but as soon as the caravan is on in warm weather the aircon cuts out.. ive learnt to live it....

hi, after a drivers door mirror, prefably the type that mounts on via a piece of rightangle metal that screws to plastic on door, they stick out a bit more than on a short adjustable arm .

gidday mate , could be worth checking repacking front wheel bearings, had same issue on 3.3 shorty patrol years ago ,intermittant noise grinding on hitting bump on hi way, bearing collapsed...

what is the theory with the twin oil filters? , no other diesel motor ive owned has 2, maybe thats why the motors last longer,

my 200 dx 4.2 d na developed a worn bearing type noise in what I thought was the gear box, only detected/noticable at idle, upon investigation notice the aircon belt was loose so...
got the same prob, just had new bfgs fitted to dx ute 2000 model, steering wheel shakes at 80/ 85 ks , hopfully they never stuffed the balancing up, .....!
get a lenght of heavy chain wrap it around the brake & clutch a few times padlock ends together, try & get the padlock on the fire wall side, no one can drive it annd a lot of time to get chain cut,
