I suck at this game!
Bloody hell that's difficult.
Have a look at www.proclip.com They have holders for nearly everything. A little pricey but you get what you pay for.
Awesome - thanks! Man, this forum is good. Through reading posts I've fixed so many little niggling problems on my GQ.
Pahard bushes sorted by huge vibration problem. Was very scary before that.
I'm off to Bunnings this afternoon now! Great tip re: the chair rubbers.
I got it all working. Required connecting a feed directly from the lower battery (the one with the negative pole earthed to the chassis) to the always-on 12v+ on the head unit. The switched 12v+...
My GQ's loom doesn't supply an earth wire to the head unit at all - it's earthed via the Nissan mounting rails directly to the chassis. I could be wrong but I'd suspect that it is earthed pretty...
Righto - I've got the stereo all hooked up and working, BUT, it seems to not have quite enough current. I'm guessing this because of:
- When I put a CD in the head unit it turns on and off...
Good to hear. My GQ had a savage vibe that turned out to be a knackered panhard bush. I'd had three separate guys look for the source of the vibration and try different things all to no avail. The...
My GQ had a savage vibration at about the same speed - felt really bad. Turned out to be a totally munted suspension bush from one of the panhard rods which couldn't be seen until it was removed.
Thanks Tony. More money! I might start with the coolant as that's looking pretty average at present.
Yes, that's what I was thinking would do the trick.
Cheers. Mine's a 24V system but the feed going to the factory stereo is 12V. I've got an even-charger fitted so the tow-plug can pull 12V so I guess I could wire it up to that if necessary.
Hi, I have a 1990 GQ Safari with a double-decker Japanese stereo that doesn't work. I want to replace it with something a bit more modern and operational.
Last night I pulled the old unit out and...
Sorry, I should have been clearer - I removed the locking part and then reattached the hub. The replacement parts I purchased from Repco are the full assembly and are manual hubs. Problem is they...
Cheers for the welcomes. I'll get some pics up shortly.
I can recommend the upgrades - made a world of difference.
My GQ started overheating for the first time on the weekend. I was wringing its neck uphill with a trailer on but certainly not for the first time. The only difference from normal is that I had the...
I've had to use the cracked pepper in a radiator before after some mongrel pulled himself under my car by the fan to disable the alarm before breaking into it. The cracked pepper fixed the radiator...
I've been driving my GQ Safari for years without the front hubs installed because they were knackered and made clicking noises. Recently I went into Repco and bought some replacement hubs but there...
Thanks - fixed mine using this method too.
Thanks for posting this - will come in very useful!
Welcome along. I'm new too and feel I'll be using this forum a lot too!
Hi, I'm new to the group. Have owned a GQ Safari for a few years and just spend a not inconsiderable sum getting the injectors and rocker gear sorted. It's got anew lease on life now!
