Matt I can tell you that, the turbine housing on your turbo is made for the supplier of your turbo and cannot be brought elsewhere.
And there are other internal differences between say your turbo...
LOL, yeh sorry was a bit.
If it helps, I put a 3.5" exhaust on another ute the other day with a UFI 18g and DC pump with the same kind of results. He also reports a slight drop in EGT's aswell which...
TD42T, larger turbo and 36ish psi boost.
3.5" exhaust from back of turbo with a straight through type muffler.
Reasonably quite, in fact quiter than most. Picked around 100-150rpm in spool time...
Hmmm, if you are half handy with a spanner, just buy a GT2863 without the exhaust housing.
Swap the core over using your exhaust housing. It will be a straight swap.
The tune will not be that far...
Paul,
Your an inquisitive bugger, lol.
I have a 12mm pump built by UFI in Perth. It uses a 1hdt head, plunger and cam plate.
Most 12mm pumps would use the same combination of parts.
You could...
You sure the lifters are hydraulic?
I think they are solid or you wouldn't have to reset them all the time clearance.
Marty
I will ad though, (memory is slipping), that in the months before I changed turbo and pump I was getting mid 11's from the standard pump and turbo. Was 17 ish psi lots of timing, 4" snorkel, smallish...
Yeh from the day I drove it out of the show room the best I could get was maybe 18's.
But with ample power you simply don't need to flog it to get it going. Normal everyday driving, with it spinning...
My GU work ute, which does 6-700km every week has as mentioned, earlier around the 280 odd hp mark and around 690-700nm.
It has 400k km on it and has never been toouched. Never opened up other than...
Go and search Patrol4x4.com
A couple of the guys there have turboed the inline pumps with success.
Marty
I did run a 11.5kg twin plate for a while which is 16.5kg lighter than the standard flywheel and clutch and it was great,
Except for the noise being solid clutch plate.
Drivability not a issue.
...
I know of 3 cranks breaking.
At this stage I'm not to concerned about it really, I have a feeling driving style may have contributed to 2 of them and the other was a earlier non factory turbo...
TD42.
Off topic from your question, sorry about that.
Marty
Hmmmm still Garrett based on a 2871.
Billet 71mm compressor wheel with extended tip, normal 6x6 blade configuration not full blade style.
Modified 53.9mm (standard GT28) turbine wheel.
Hopefully...
To be honest I have never had a exhaust on long enough to notice anything.
Changing turbo on the weekend, I will have to unwrap the dump, I'll have a look.
No issues with moisture, it all dries...
Anything you can do to maintain heat in the system upto the turbine is good.
More heat, better corrected gas flow for more drive on the turbine, so yes it should spool a little quicker and be more...
QUOTE=Jacket_1985;343640]you seem to have a bee in your bonnet about this Marty.
i start a few threads asking about fuel pump upgrades, and you comment on every one and keep telling me i have a...
But you don't belive in warranties!
I will suggest it is just gear rollover.
When in neutral and it is making the noise, without using the clutch, put a bit of pressure on the gearstick like trying to put it into a gear.
If the noise...
If it is knocking, you may find it has broken a injector spring also. I have had this happen a couple of times. Broke the spring, jammed the nozzle, knock knock knock, white smoke, miss at idle.
It...
Oops I forgot about this on the other site.
If it is a .48 exhaust housing in T3 that is about right. It maybe a little slow in response as the exhaust side is slightly larger than the GT28...
Yes Matt has posted up some good reading and is very interesting.
Temperature drop across the turbine is part of its operation though and the cooling and expansion of the gases is what drives it....
You really need to stay away from the so called high flowed turbos.
Either machining housings for a different CHRA or whatever.
The standard compressor housing is not large enough to cope with...
