Update-
It turns out the ball and spring got stuck in the Dawes valve. A bit of a fiddle and all is back to normal!
Is it a common problem?

Hi all,
Just got back from a week away with the caravan and enjoying the new power from the 3" exhaust. Drove approx 300km there with the boost hitting 18psi (no limp mode) on the long hills etc....
Thanks heaps Mudski for the additional info! I have looked at the larger scoops, and will probably do that around when I do the I/c change. I have really enjoyed doing everything one job at a time...
Hey guys, I just wanted to post some updates re the mods on my CRD in case there are other newbies like me that aren't sure what to do next.
It's seemed to me that boost fluctuation and high...
I was considering getting one, but for just a bit more ($150ish) I got a dinkum exhaust. Seemed to have better flanges, better hangers, and came pre welded with egt bung. Fitted mine this arvo - is...
I'd also recommend the provent 200. I have fitted one on mine, really simple drain from the tube at the bottom. Works very well.
A mate installed a HPD on his cruiser, really good quality, but a...
I have been looking at these on eBay, did it make much of an improvement?

I haven't used the HPD one, and being a relative novice on diesels I installed the Dawes/needle setup from Mudski and was very simple to install and tune.
So far it's been great, have tweaked it...
Thanks mate! I took it off recently when I replaced the glow plug seals and all joints are dry - but I hear you, & it will be gone soon. It has only done 130kms but I think leaks won't be far away...
Thanks heaps mate, very good info!
Mine is a 2008 CRD unmodified other than what I have put on (catch can, Dawes etc.) But like yourself, fitting the Dawes was a massive improvement, still...
Awesome thanks! Yeah I reckon that's the pipes I'll go for. A few have said that the Beaudesert are a really good match for the CRD.
Just out of curiosity, what sort of EGT numbers are you...
Thanks mate, I had heard the boost can play up after a different exhaust was fitted. However I have already fitted the Dawes etc. so shouldn't be a hassle if it needs tweaking.

Hi to all the patrol experts!
I'm looking at putting in a new intercooler and an exhaust on my CRD ZD30 in due course. However due to budget constraints, they can't both happen at the same...
Looking at a possible exhaust upgrade on the ZD30 CRD, and just wondering what others have done...
I have fitted the Dawes and needle valve kit, with significant improvements in the power and egt...
Is it a fairly quick response, as in hits the high boost and goes straight into limp? or does it have be in that range of boost for a given time?

Just out of curiosity mudski, what sort of max boost levels would bring on the limp mode?

Sounds fair! Do you have a link for the direct purchase? Thanks again!

Awesome, thanks mate! Is it easier to buy to direct from you, or off eBay? Whats your preference?

Is the kit on the Northern 4 x 4 on eBay your business?

I know this topic has probably been done to death, so I apologise for bringing it up again. However I just would like an answer to a couple of questions regarding boost controller/Dawes valve...
