If you need to bath the parts, diesel is the go. Cheap as compared to degreasers, needs a bit more elbow grease but its not $15 for 4 litres either.

Marine spec b has a governed speed around 4K, but they also have balance shafts fitted, not possible with an automotive spec sump as the balance shaft housing sits below the crank. Not sure I'd turn...
Brake cleaner is a degreaser but it dries radiply leaving no residue. Normal degreasers will leave a film, obviously no good on brakes or a lot of other jobs. Not sure that ct18 will be strong enough...
Agree with the sloppy shifts when the clutches are worn, but I guess it's something that may not be so noticeable to a lot of people as it has slowly worn over time.
Got the gu all back together today. Nothing exciting to report other than it runs just as Nissan intended, throw out bearing is a bit noisey so that looks like the next job to get done. I'm thinking...
Governed rpm of a 6b is 3400rpm max. But this is dependant on spec with 2800rpm being much more common. So definitely would require diff gears
Yes they can go as quick as that. Once that piston travels that little bit extra and let's the seal go, it's lost its pressure. Unfortunately I don't see an easy fix.
Worn clutch pack can allow the apply piston to over extend and pop the seal. Best bet would be a pressure test.
Have had the gq and gu manuals for quite a few years as well as a bunch of other Nissan manuals. Not my first day playing with datsuns...
Short and to the point.
Could be as simple as a rock stuck in the backing plate. But definitely check the wheel bearing for play when it's off the ground
Tomorrow is intake and exhaust manifolds, new chra and ancillaries fitted. Hopefully get it out of my hair by mid afternoon
Not my patrol, my brother. GU 2.8. Pistons back in, sump on, head assembled, valves shimmed, head back on, injectors fitted, front seals replaced, timed and belt fitted.
Why so many issues after rebuild? Is it a parts quality problem or labour quality Problem?
Get the injectors tested to start with. White smoke is fuel burn propergation timing. Not necessarily injection timing. Can be caused by quite a few thing. I would start with bench testing the...
Are you after the standard rd28 turbo?
Short of having a spud machined up to replace the 416 there is not too many options in that thread size. Also be careful with full flow cooling, it can be a dangerous exercise if hose size etc isn't...
Check the waste gate operation to make sure it's extending soothing back and forth. But a regulator and air hose from an air compressor onto it, slowly apply pressure and watch the rod for smooth...
May be a leak in a boost hose, joint or intercooler. I would definitely remove the intake pipe from the turbo and have a look and feel as well.
Simple straight forward job. Get in there and go for it
Can't really go too far wrong with a 2.8 or 4.2. All little knowledge of their weaknesses goes a long way to making them ultra reliable. The 3.0, no idea where to start on their weaknesses, too many...
Quietly considering converting from the dark side into a Nissan. We will see if you blokes can convince me.
*dremel, auto correct got me
I use a Drexel and cut a slot in the bolts then simply wind out with a flat screwdriver. Door locks are easy enough.
Either pump is more than enough to operate a cruise actuator on top of the already fitted systems. Very likely it was installed incorrectly or it is faulty
