yeah mate 19mm, I got under it and fiddled around with it til I managed to get the open-end spanner on it. Spanner was a bit loose, makes me think maybe it's an imperial size? Anyway, I slowly...
well I had another look and managed to get a spanner onto it. Removed the switch, cut off the wires that were looking pretty dodgy and re-soldered new ones. Yay, it works. I'll call that a win.
thanks mate yeah I can get to it ok from underneath but getting a spanner onto it is another matter. Might need a custom tool or something.
cheers mate yeah had a look underneath and found it (it's on the drivers side). Can't get any spanner I've got onto it though, looks like a trip to the mechanic
Hey folks, I have a 2004 GU, TD42 manual.
The reverse light switch is sporadic, only comes on when I wobble the gearstick around while in reverse.
Any hints on location of switch and best...

Ended up getting a shop to sort it out completely. New Compressor, Evaporator, TX valve and receiver dryer. So glad I did, this is the old evaporator and probably why it never seemed to...
Sounds like the Redarcs are good. I've got a Tekonsha voyager, cheap, simple and works well.
strewth can they handle that sort of temp over prolonged periods? I was towing my tinny up a range during the last heatwave and it got to 100c so I pulled over until it dropped into the 90's
Well my compressor finally seized a couple months ago and looking at replacing it. The aircon man recommends replacing compressor, evaporator, tx valve, dryer everything for just over 2k. It did...
my money's on the starter motor. Especially if it's the original item from new. Happened to mine, replaced it with a cheapie off ebay, bit of a pain but managed alright and solved the issue.
Ah Ok fair enough, what did it end up costing you? Interested if there are numerous options. For instance I just replaced my starter motor for $160 when the original is $650
Sorry for the delay in replying mate, I haven't bothered fixing or replacing it yet and it hasn't got any worse. I'll probably just wait until it falls apart before I do anything.
cheers,

Sorry the neighbor sold them a while back, apologies for not cancelling the ad sooner.
I had a bad experience with Federal Couragia's. Apart from being noisey, uncomfortable and wearing fast, I was inspecting them one day and found one had started to split right down the middle. The...
Posting for my neighbor -
2 x TOYO mud tyres, 285, brand new on Patrol steel wheels, never been fitted to vehicle
3 x Cooper mud tyres, 285, approx 70% tread on Patrol steel wheels.
$1000...
thanks mate I hadn't thought of that. Might go that way if I can't find another plug
Hunting everywhere for a plug from the TCV on a GU 2004 TD42TI.
Mine's cracked and works its way loose every couple weeks or so. Have tried Patrolapart and Nizzbits without luck.
Anyone? ...
Yeah i know how intercoolers work, just asking if anyone here has used this kit and what actual improvement they found. Then I can better decide if it's worth the money to me.
Gday folks, just chasing any personal experiences with the HPD upgrade kit. Says it gives 80% better flow but interested in how that translates in lower egts, more power (how much difference). ...
Yeah after having a bit of a look it probably is the compressor. It isn't real bad, just noticeable and the aircon is still cold so I'll just use it til it breaks. At least it's got it's own belt...
Sorry yeah the pulley has been done, it's fine. Just when the compressor engages the noise starts then starts and stops as the compressor switches on and off
