As far as the oil goes, the way I understand it at least, the latest API spec supercedes those previous and they seem to be alphabetical ... SE, SF, SG etc
Nice buggy sarge. Shouldn't that bear be tied onto the bonnet?
Nah, I've tried that but I guess perhaps bonnet alignment, though it looks alright. Fore and aft perhaps?
I like the idea of gas struts for the bonnet. Can you tell me the make and model or did they come as a kit with brackets etc.?
Sure. I thought it might be worth a try. Just in case...
Do you plan to post a blow-by-blow (pun intended) of the process here. I for one (and perhaps the only one) would be chuffed if you do.
Cheers,
Rick
Or do you get the noise with the clutch pedal depressed? And a sort of rattly whine? If so, might be a thrust bearing without lubricant.
And do you have any probs with the bonnet sticking? I currently have to give it a thump while pulling the release cable to get it off the bonnet stops.
Amazing countryside you have there gxr. And yes, some of it does look edible ... Gelati perhaps. Or Napolitana ...
That'll come in very handy and works a treat. Thanks for that ripper.
I can sort of picture that - very Xmassy; like a thirsty Rudolph (oh, sorry ... but without the red nose).
So I should have a carton handy while reading forum posts. Ah well I spose I can make...
Yours are pristine by comparison. I've tried vacuuming, including with a smaller diameter hose taped into the nozzle to up the suck per unit area or air velocity (whichever comes first), while...
Thanks for your kind welcome Mr The Dogman, Tim, Ross. It's been been most entertaining and informative.
Cheers,

Thanks Tony, I'll have a look at the loom. Interesting point about the switching. I would say there are relays in the system but I'd have to look to be certain.
Anyway, your procedure for finding...
Auto electrics always makes me feel a bit dim (pun intended) but I couldn't figure out how this one would work. I'll try and chase it from headlight to fuse as you suggest, thanks.
After rain and perhaps more particularly after splashing through water the left headlight turns itself on and flattens the battery...sometimes the case.
Otherwise the battery can lose charge...
Nice work ripper.
Any suggestions for getting crud out of the evaporator fins (that don't involve degassing and removing it first)?
Cheers,
Rick
Thanks for adding me in. Gives the map a bit less of that "everyone's falling off the edges look".
If you're referring to the snib (ie the lock button) I can sympathise; every time I lock the doors I automatically re-tighten the loose snibs. If this the problem I would recommend a little dab of...
Problem with lifting the rear of the bonnet or reverse air scoops is that, at lower speeds anyway, all that hot air from the engine bay is heading straight into your air vents. Reverse scoops won't...
I used cloth tape which has held for about 6 months but looks horrible. Luckily no one gets to look at them too often. I like the chair leg rubbers idea. Any mods necessary or just slip on?
Cheers...
No worries and thanks for the willkommen. The middle bit was looking a tad empty.
Cheers
Rick
Thanks for the welcoming
