Sounds good. My only experience with the new cree led's is a headlamp with a cree xml t6 chip, it gets smoking hot after a while. Even came with a warning not to touch the lense or surrounding heat...
So now im the one giving dangerous advice!! Sometimes decending backward isn't an option, and winches don't come in 100m+.
There seems to be a few class clowns here, or maybe just self designated...
So what do you think its for then, warming up your car, or cruise control? Must be one of the two, surely.
Gotta love the way you word things. 'A very significant risk' is what im getting at. Im talking about slopes where compression isn't going to hold you. I realise most 4wdriving uphill starts don't...
"hand throttle was NOT designed to get you to "gain forward momentum up massive inclines"
it was designed to give you the ability to use the throttle WITHOUT using your feet - ever heard of the old...
Sounds like the one. Getting into first gear has to be done, dangerous though it is. I was taught to open the hand throttle, flick the key, then switch from brake to accelerator as the car surged...
That's suited to general driving around town, doing hill-starts. The handbrake is a set of shoes in a single drum, im looking at situations where you're stuck stationary on dangerous slopes when you...
Im not trying to be the smartest bloke here, but the hand throttle is for dealing with stalls or forced stops on steep uphill inclines, when you have to restart and it's too dangerous to take your...
20ltrs of gear oil and a pump type diff filler bottle. Wish i'd bought one 20 years ago, so much of my life wasted with a hose and funnel.
Sounds like you need big dual alts to start with. Or a long 240v lead.
I've had a few dramas with massive vibration going through the GQ, always at low speed, rolling to a stop, or turning. I noticed the handbrake cable went slack when the handbrake was only halfway...
At the moment the solenoid is stuck wide open, but when the engine revs it doesn't restrict the fuel return flow to increase the carbi pressure. I had the problem of the fuel dropping down below the...
Those Cree leds are the go I reckon, amazing amount of light for a tiny chip, but they run fairly hot too. Im never in reverse for extended periods of time though.
G'day. I can't seem to find anywhere online that sells the rb30 fuel return solenoid for 92 GQ. I haven't asked Autopro or anything yet, all closed today, and only listings on ebay and the like show...
Thanks for a good idea, I though about hooking up the body mounted lenses (that are decorations on my GQ) to increase the tail visibility, as my tails are only in the bumper, but I have no globe...
Could use a fuse box that takes the large fuses, either the PAL type or the big flat blades that are about 1 inch wide, that'd increase the surface area of the contact. As ET says, id solder joints...
As an interim measure you could remove the thermostat and see if it runs cooler, could be a dodgy thermo.
Not much fun in Adelaide heat, but cranking the cab heating up full can help wash off some...
The first owner of my GQ stuck in oldman emus with no lift, but I reckon it's about an inch higher than the factory springs, bilstein shocks, don't know what model, but they're a pretty hard ride on...
All the above...melting fuses sounds like high resistance = heat..parrot parrot.
How big is your alternator? My rb30 runs a 60 Amp, so 720watts at 12v minus a couple hundred watts for vehicle...
Nice, looks like a lot of fun!
If you can see the waterpump relief holes just behind it's drive pulley, you might be able to see the drip or evidence of the dye. You might have to take off the stone guard under the radiator to...
I feel for you mate, sorry to hear it. He looked like a tough little champ.
92 GQ mostly original so far, only done an alternator, starter motor, and had the air con rebuilt after it seized years ago.
Yeah that was my guess too, looks just like it.
