Attaching to firewall
Hi all,
Looking to attach diff breather bracket to the firewall. I grabbed a photo off the web - see section circled in red below, is this OK to drill into (self tappers)?
It's a 2016 GU Patrol, Anything behind there to be worried about?
Attachment 75653
Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
Shane

Not sure about drilling in there without checking first. I think the aircon is in that area but probably not that high. Take the glove box out (quick and easy) and have a look first.

‘Should’ be ok mate, we’ve got a couple of GU Series 1’s with ‘BRC’ brand installed roughly in that location too. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...018/06/141.jpg
If I can suggest best to only drill through just enough to inspect and or use a drill collar thingy set at say a few millimeters to only penetrate the firewall. Ours have ‘Nutsert/Rivserts’ instead of tech-screws which I believe would eliminate sharp screw cutter tips causing any future issues behind there too. https://www.bunnings.com.au/kincrome...-pack_p0316236
Cheers!

Almost forgot mate, if yours have top mounted ‘diffusers’ also, make sure you allow for bonnet closure so they don’t snap the front two off :-)

Thanks, getting into it now.

Are you replacing the existing breathers? I thought all GUs already had them?

IIRC factory rear diff only went into chassis back there on ours and both boxes and front diff went into dusty wheel arch up front. Much cleaner/protected and higher up on our firewall’s IMHO.

Ended up drilling a small hole, then poking wire through to make sure nothing was there before screwing, all good.
I've run the rear one up the front now. Just deciding whether to run front 3 or leave them as is. The rear was the main concern...
Cheers
