only ever used the green stuff, whether it was the premix or concentrate
what colour did it come out with. red is supposedly better for the plastic components, how true this is is anyone's guess. if they came out with green i'd stick with the green.
I use the same as Clunk , sometimes premix sometimes concentrate always the not red stuff .
Doesn’t it say anywhere on the bottle what the percentage of glycol is? 100% ‘concentrate’ on it’s own is pretty meaningless.
The 5 litre bottle of Nulon (green) I have at home is stuff I bought around 18 months to 2 years ago. It was priced at $38.80. It’s label says ‘Long Life Concentrated Coolant 100% concentrate 1060gm glycol per litre’
The label says suitable for 4 years/250,000kms. for all petrol, diesel & LPG engines.
At a 33% (5 litres make up 15 litres) mix ratio it raises boiling point to 127 deg.C & lowers freezing point to -18 deg.C
At a 50% (5 litres makes up 10 litres) mx ratio it raises boiling point to 132 deg. C & lowers freezing point to -37 deg.C
50% is recommended for heavy duty diesels.
From that info I would suggest that the likely difference between those pictured above is the amount of glycol per litre.
I’ve got a 50% mix in mine. If I had realised the boiling point was 132 deg.C I would have been less concerned when my temp gauge was showing 100 deg.C when pulling the Tvan up to the Barrington Tops!
As for the 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 years ....... I reckon that’s just marketing nonsense. How many folk would leave their coolant unchanged for 8 years?
If the label didn’t tell me the amount of glycol per litre I’d buy a different brand that did.
Just saw this in 4wd action. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2017/11/91.jpg

I have always used repco concentrate and then Coles bottles of demineralised water X 3. Get it mixed to 40 per cent and run for 50000km and dump. Never had an issue with the coolant causing problems and nil crud in the cooling system...20 bucks cheaper than the nulon stuff too.
Just to throw another variable in, my Patrol came with BLUE coolant.
