Out she came. We stood it on its end to replace Gearbox mounts that we identified last weekend to be well passed rooted. (Only a couple of years old and trashed! Dont buy shit mounts people! And dont let Mechanics fit shit mounts and bushed to your car!)
Rear Main looked good but clearly wasnt.

We decided the Patrol should come without a gearbox as there was soo much more room to work without it. Stupid piece of metal.

Many hands make lite work. Great Team effort made the complex task relatively straight forward and in she went.

Another quality write up by Darren!
To be honest I was too depressed to comment last night, we took it for a drive and the brand new clutch slipped. We disconnected the slave cylinder and drove with no hydraulics so that we could 100% rule that system out.
The guys say to me, don't stress mate it just needs to bed into the new flywheel surface. Was pretty hard not to be upset by it though really.
Well anyway I thought it was worth a try, so I did a 100km trip to Walhalla and back today, made sure I was changing gear as much as I could to bed in the flywheel.
On the way back I gave it a quick test and it held perfectly in 4th gear and a small amount of slip in 5th so it is coming good! Another few 100 kms and it should be all perfect!
I am so stoked with it now and could not have done it without everybody's help, especially to Darren, Matt, Rossco and Jonno. These guys went absolutely above and beyond, drove down to my place 2 weekends in a row to help me out.
Seriously bloody good true blue Aussie blokes! You guys are the best!

Love working on patrols except never seem to get the motivation to work on my own hahaha. Might have to organise a few working bees LOL.
Great to see it back on the road mate. What an adventure its been eh. Few LOW lows but now all highs. Happy days. Now bring on trip after xmas. Can not wait.
Awesome mate, glad it's coming good, when it first slipped again was a pretty big low but wise advise from George to give it a cruisey run in and not 2 stress Sir Roofy had always said the same, wise man. . . Was a pleasure, pretty amazing place we have here. . .
Had an enjoyable drive up friday night did a bit of exploring around Fumina through Tanjil river poping out at the back of blue rock res. . .

Quote snipped from Cape Jaffa trip thread...
Been thinking about this and previously I would have thought that this oil leak would have shown on the pressure gauge.
MB commented that due to the reduced capacity the oil would have started to get hot and if an oil temp gauge was installed then it would have been noticed.
I've found a spot for a twin gauge so will get a water temp/oil temp gauge like this one pictured.

Does anybody have any experience with external oil coolers on their TD42? It's been on my mind a bit lately and I've been thinking about how @PeeBee and @MB have had great success on their Chevy 6.5 diesel's with external oil coolers.
We all know that the modified TD42s get warm and when we were towing on this trip I had so much power to use but couldn't put my foot down due to fear of doing long term damage from getting hot.

@Rossco does your Safari turbo kit have an external oil cooler? I've read that some did.
