Have a gq with the rb30 efi. Conversion, the temp reads really cold it sits just above the bottom line even doing 120 on the highway is this normal?
Also have hooked a aftermarket gauge and reads the same think it was just above 40

i had a similar problem, my thermostat seized open.
Change thermostat first, with a factory one, should fix your problem.
Cheers fellas I'll check it out, what should it read at?
well mine being a td42 it reads on the original about 1/3 pretty much everywhere doing almost anything. as for actual temp for an rb30 i guess about 80 ish deg ( an rb30 guy should be able to give a more acc guide) it will depend on which thermostat though a 77 deg will run a bit cooler than the 82 deg.
The temperature should be 80-85 fully warmed up.
Get a genuine factory one. I bought an after market one off ebay but for the same price you can get genuine one here

It made a huge difference in mine. Engine's running lot happier now.
Low temperature and high revs is a bad combination for piston rings and walls.
Thanks mate will order now! So that could explain the random hight revs it has
Any idea what would be doing that? Doesn't always happen and only does it for a short time then drops to normal
is like choke kicking in? the efi should have a choke like running condition if the temp drops it could be bringing the revs up to warm the engine.
