Can someone please clarify following:
My 1999 Nissan Patrol Y61 Wagon ID plate shows Trans Axle info as FS5R30A HG46 and i have yet been unable to get a definitive answer to what diffs are front and back.
Question:
Can anyone tell me if BOTH Front and Back diffs are H233B of 4.625 ratios or is there a mix ..... reading weeks of forums has got me confused.

HG is rear diff = H233B and obviously front and rear ratios are both 4.6
HH is the designator for the H260 diff
233 and 260 being the crown wheel dia respectively

Its about as much info as I can ever get but any chance you know what the Front Diff is ..... is it also a H233B ?
Reason I ask is I am changing ratio,s in my Y61 and the transmission shop wants me to confirm fit both front and rear before they get started to ensure parts are avail first

Not much to tell, I am 59 years old, I have a 1999 Nissan Patrol Y61 GU with a 2" Old man Emu lift kit, 2.5" SS Exhaust and Snorkel and have had the ECU chipped. Truck geared way too much towards high speed highway use and has a very jerky in throttle response in low 4x4. I understand the jerkiness is a known throttle sensitivity issue so I am looking to gear the machine down .....I am happy to cruise at 110 all day rather than 140 (it has standard diameter wheels) and fit a stronger spring into the throttle system ... hopefully that makes it a bit more user friendly in the bush... otherwise the machine is fantastic.
Front is a H233. H260 only ever came out in the rear diff. H233 has 11 bolts around the centre and H260 has 12 bolts.

Hi Mudski, I just rcvd my H233 diffs from superior engineering in QLD and they have 9 bolt holes ..... any ideas .... it would seem from your note they should have 11 bolt holes .....its such a confusing issue getting specs and really appreciate anything you can add.Quote:
