Mark what do you think of that holder in the pic. I'm not going to leave it on the car always, will the extra weight be a concern.

IMHO Jaysee, even the OEM spare tyre weight on our drivers side GU barn doors was a flaw in design from the get go unfortunately mate!
Not exactly sure how many years it takes but worth all GU wagon drivers inspecting their cracks just inline with the lower glass parallel:-(
All aftermarket rear carry weights should be loaded atop of ADR swing arm type bars for sure [emoji106][emoji106]

Yep. @mudski 's Large barn door began peeling apart ... Not sure what year range, this happens. Especially when you hang a larger tyre with a steel rim onto it.
This is what happens to the barn door mate, and how you fix it.

Adding a another 20kg's plus the weight of the bracket, maybe 5-10kgs is a lot. Real lot.
I know its a lot of money but an aftermarket steel rear bar is the best option. Second to none.
BTW, @Rossco @MB @Winnie @everyone who is reading this, I spoke with Milweld today as they also buy from me, and yep! From the horses mouth. He is starting to build bars again, production will start in a few months! I put in a request for him to design an auto door opening feature for the large barn door, as I was asked how I like my bar when I told them I had their bar on the back of my Patrol. I told him my only gripe is opening the bloody swing away everytime I need access to the back of the Patrol. Lets hope...
Welcome to buy mine if you like?
