What brand chip is this
Does anyone know what brand of chip this is. The guy I bought it off had no idea even though he put it in and didn't have receipts or anything for it. It started playing up on a trip a few weeks ago and I want to get it fixed. All the guy could tell me is that its made in Germany so I think maybe its a steinbauer but don't really know for sure cos its not written anywhere on the chip. Any help would be appreciated.

we have a Steinbauer chip and it looks nothing like that though that thing looks old as the hills, ours is in a black box and all the circuitry is covered in an epoxy style substance to keep water out. Maybe email Steinbauer direct and show them the unit.
edit: what was it doing? and how did you find out it was the chip

It cant be all that old cos the guy i bought the car off who put the chip in only had it for a couple of years and i only bought the car 9 months ago so it can't be more than maybe 4 years old at the most. Maybe its not a steinbauer, would have thought it would have it written on there if it was.
In regards to what it was doing, it was like the chip was turning on and off which was making the car surge like i couldn't hold my foot in one spot on the accelerator. Found out it was the chip by just unplugging it and the problem was gone

Am thinking it might be a cheap ebay special. Have seen a few similar ones on there and the fact it has no brand name written on it makes me a bit suspicious.
