I still like the taste of meat, so I occasionally prepare my shit meal with TVP.
I call it a shit meal, 'cos frying with oil and stuff to make it taste better ain't healthy on regular basis but damn satisfying when you do it in odd occasions. Vegans definitely have lowest cases of diseases like cancer, diabetes though.
Vegans & vegetarians die of heart disease all the time 'cos of addiction to taste and eating crap vegan food too much.
But, for the most part I am trying hard to separate the emotional comfort, addiction etc aspect of the food and take it as a nutrition.
It ain't easy as our cultures are built on food & when you have all the good tasting crap around it's pretty hard to avoid.
Finding other things to get the satisfaction we get from food is the key, but easily said than done.
Finding exciting hobbies is the way to go. Replacing regular sex for food addiction can be a good solution, but not sure how folks
manage it as a long term solution when testosterone start to wear out & folks would rather lie on the couch and watch old Seinfeld episodes.
I am fascinated by human biology and brain. We have a near 100% makeup of a herbivore like gorillas, yet we've developed a strong habit of meat eating quite a long time ago according to what we know so far. Our biological makeup and food habits are at odds with each other.
I've seen an elephant killing people and eating the body parts, but that one was a mad elephant(long story).
I dunno why we eat way too much meat knowing it does no good to our health in every aspects, but I intend to find out or at least come up with few theories.
One thing I'm 100% certain is our dairy consumption. We've gota stop consuming that crap. It hasn't done any good regardless of good percentage of population developing lactose tolerance. Besides, dairy has far far more toxic crap in it than any kinda meat.
I think the tastes are acquired and then set in the brain. You can see it clearly among different cultures all around the world when it comes to likes and dislikes. Delicacy in one culture is shit tasting crap in another culture.
