IMHO an Aux in teh engine bay doesn't need a 'charger'.
The voltage drop from the Alt to the Aux is bugger all so an Isolator can charge much quicker than a 'charger'.
You only need the SBI12D if...
Here's my basic heat shield. I used the stuff from supercheap. Folded it and secured it to the battery tray. Used some rubber fuel hose to top it off....

Too much free travel might mean that the clutch is not disengaging fully ... which could then cause this problem.
Less likely - but still maybe an issue, you may need to try lighter...

have aircon on and spray into air intake works well but cant remember whats it called

Check the drain holes on either side of the air in take, these some times block with mud and crud.

Leah's Navara had the exact same smell but Growler lives miles away from me so I looked further into it and the drain tray was just full of crud from all the dust.
My Q had the same problem, so I pulled the fan housing out. I used a vacuum cleaner to suck as much crud out of the cooler fins and to unblock the drain. I then used a disinfectant and water to wash...
