if it's a GQ then it's more likely cracked than not. i phoned andrew at Big-O 4x4. it was about $110 delivered i think from memory
so as i mentioned progress has slowed down alot. but hasn't completely stopped
these photo's show where the front clip had separated from the cab below the windscreen
65207 65208

so this turned up with a courier yesterday :)
it's 12sq meters of butyl rubber (doing the firewall, roof, floor and doors), 8sq meters of dense foam underlay, (firewall and floor under carpet),...
so time to bolt the cab down firm, new bolts of course and nice big washers. the rear two had done what they all do and split the nuts out of their captive housings and the factory hole isn't big...
time to make some longer rear upper arms now that I can see how much clearance i have around the body so I cut the old mount off....
63133 63134 63135
had a bit of a measure and cut up the...
sorry peter, at this stage i'm going to wait until i finish the build before i start selling bits and pieces, never know what will be needed down the track
nah she won't stay reliable, i'll give some life to the old diesel, down the track a bit, when it's finished this car will be here for a good time, not a long time :)
thanks mate, it keeps me occupied :)
yeah i'm on the hunt for a GU front and steering box to match, this one came up for a few hundred bucks, couldn't say no
62218 62219
neither of these are mine, just one's ive found on the net while looking for idea's. thought maybe you guys can take some inspiration from them as well if you want to get that...
hey guy's just wonder if anyone has trouble posting a thread i the parts and accessories category? everytime i try to click start new thread it pops up an error with something to do with PANJO, what...
Here is a couple of quick snaps of the one's we made to convert an RB30 to a TD42 without having to cut or weld to the chassis
Passenger side and Drivers side
62164 62165
Finally stopped procrastinating over repairing the coil tower today
jacked up the chassis and took off the front right wheel and took the spring out, this shows just how rusted out it was...

I believe, and correct me if i'm wrong, mirror balance is where they match the harmonic ballancer and the flywheel together on the engine as a rotating assembly and a neutral/zero balance is when...
so after making a set of engine mounts for a mate, i wasn't quite happy with the first set i made for this so i made another set
62135 62136 62137
62138 62139
they turned out pretty good...
And just like that there will be no more broken engine mounts, these suit a TD42 diesel engine but the same principle can be used for all the others, we used the same sort of thing to convert a RB30...
For the other side, as they say, wash, rinse, repeat
bolt the plate and the bush on
62127 62126
cardboard templates, transfer it to the 6x50mm and cut them out
62130 62129 62128
The next step is to bolt the passenger side plate onto the engine, then bolt the pre mount bush onto the chassis
62111 62110
use some cardboard to make a template of the joining piece, i used...
Step 5
Take the 6x100mm plate and mark out the holes, i just use the bracket off the engine
62141 62142 62143
as the holes are the same for both the driver and passenger side i just...
Step 4
now make another just like the other
62092 62093
i found that the heat didn't transfer enough to harm the bush and because these bushes were in pretty good nick i'm not even going...
Step 3
clean up the cut on the bush housing and give it a bit of a "vee" to make it easier to weld, center it on one of the base plates making sure the holes in the bush line up straight with the...
Step 1
we start by taking the lower control arm and mark 15mm in from the lower part of the bush housing - do this at both ends
62070 62071
use a thin cutoff wheel in the grinder to cut...
As we all know, GQ and GU patrols have a habit of breaking engine mounts, especially the passenger side as it is the one subject to the lifting force from the engine torque when the loud pedal is...
Ive seen them made using leaf spring poly bushes as well,
was told though they are firm as with the nissan bush so
be prepared for that.
yeah that's what I found as well, just not enough rubber...
I can take some, the first set I made I used the patrol lower arm bush, but the second set I made for a mate while helping do a TD conversion into an RB30 GQ, we made them so we didn't have to cut...
