Has anyone removed the distributor and checked for play on the shaft ?
Hi mate, have you tested the leads? one might be on its way out and shorting every once in a while......
Good chance it will be one of the two check where the hoses fit on to the engine as well sometimes the fittings corrode and block up with crap as well.
Not much else it can be really.

Two hoses run through the firewall from your engine about a 1/2 inch diameter they are for your heater take them off at the engine side and run the hose through one.
