Thanks Jas. This is the type of role I have been working towards for a very long time and I am very close to my $120K PA goal salary. But there have been quite a few morons to deal with along the way, but hey, you learn from them and move on.

I start the new role in the new year where their local business has been supported by the Director's Personal Assistant for the past two years so I think I am in for a bit of a clean up and a challenge in the new year and beyond.

Its not a three month boat trip any more to go half way around the world.... It is a very small world.

Hi mate - congratulations on the new role! I'm on LinkedIn so I'll send you a connection request. I know Ciena pretty well - at PIPE we built a submarine cable from Sydney to Guam (~7000kms) and the network engineers use some Ciena gear. Small world hey?

Hi Jas. You go back as far as I do!! I started repairing 386 machines and building them way back when. Bloody hell we come a long way in a short time dont we?

As it happens, I have just been appointed the Senior Desktop Engineer in Asia Pacific for a company called Ciena (They purchased Nortel in 2010) just this evening! We might just bump into one another in the near future, if not we wil have to attend a forum meetup!

Hi mate - I work in telco and have done for the last 18 years. Started out as a network engineer for Ozemail, Pacific Internet and the like. Most recently was the CEO of PIPE Networks - running telco and fibre around the country.
