Good Day my friends, this is JP from Chile Southamerica (your neighbor, just the entire Pacific Ocean in between) :1087: , this is my 2000 4.5 Y61 , GL (barebone stock model,) with some standard GU aftermarket that doens't need to be explained to you AUS'iens

My only short term plans are a double jerry can holder for the roofrack (bought in the US from Hannibal) and maybe a V8 engine swap. I bought a 5.3 LM7 V8 (300 bHP) from a 2004 Chevy Silverado in the US, that is sailing soon , and might start this swap (if I don't get temped to sell the engine and buy a bigger one)... who knows since the TB45E swallows 20 lt/100 Kmt , I could live with the same mileage but with 100 Hp more...

She one hell of a nice unit JP, What a setup.

Cheers

jpvm
12th September 2010, 10:49 AM
Hey Paul , thanks mate, oh yes, but the LS1 (all aluminum) is a car engine (GTO, Monaro, Corvette, Camaro, etc) and the LQ4 or LQ9 6.0 V8s are kinda more suited since they come from trucks (Silverado HD , Cadillac Escalade, Hummer H2, etc.) due to their low end torque they are set up ... and byw, these are way cheaper than LS engines

Thanks a lot again my blokes, really its just to share our trips with my Patrol colleagues and besides show how Chile looks (these are all from northern part , desert), middle and southern Chile look completely different (volcanoes, lakes, forests, cold weather, ... nice).
I have always felt a little austrialan here, since Y61 are rare visions and also with all the Oz stuff in my 4x4 it makes me share a lot with you guys ...

On the other side, my view of 4x4 is basically do this with the complete family , kids and wife, they all must share and enjoy the travel, the respect of nature and tolerate different people and conditions. I will remember all my life long when my dad tooks us here and there out for camping, I can lose everything but these memories nobody will take them out of my soul.

Here some more shots of our last northern Chile trip, hope you are not bored with this repetition ....

All the power and all the best wishes to my friends in AUS for a fast relief of the floods and now the Hurricane (hope you are all safe and sound), I send you these dry pics to hopefully dry out all those wet moments you are going through this summer. We are facing a small drought this summer that might lead us to power shortages this next March ... world is quite crazy ain't it ?

Hey mate, this is only decoration of an eco camping inside of a national park. A very nice camping, clean, nice places, no crowds (its deep into the desert) , no littering... what I most like of the outdoors.

some big offset on those rims/tyres

jpvm
23rd May 2011, 11:53 AM
Hey Mate , really not that much , wheels are 15x10" (offset is 1") and tyres are 35x12.5" , a pretty standard setup for 35" tire/wheel combo. The 4.5 Y61 (5 speed) comes with 15" so , for me, even beeter than newer Y61s.

Hi JP,
Great photos, they give a much better view of your country than any travel brochures could.
A really personal outlook from someone who appreciates his homeland.
I would love to take my Patrol over there and tour like you do, not possible, but I can dream.
Keep the pics coming!!!!

Cheers Gavin
