Heya guys and girls,
hope everyone has had an awesome weekend.....mine was great.. here is a little write up and a few pics about my weekend......
Well as i have started a new job in Perth last Wednsesday and doing a heap of hours i wasnt expecting to go away for the long weekend until i woke up on Saturday morning had some breakfast (not that their is any risk of me fading away if i didnt eat) and saw the weather was looking awesome so i said to Ruth.."get your clothes and what ever you need(turns out she needs more than most when going camping for a couple of days but i think most people reading this have similar experiences). I have heard a bit about Yeagarup but had never been there.. it is about 350 odd km south from here so this was the plan....
we turned on and loaded the engell (plenty of beer....oh and wine for ruth)packed the car and an hour later we were on the road..
The drive was quite nice through the country side and being that i didnt really know where i was going i was relying on the navman to get me close and then on to ozi explorer for the off road stuff(turns out they dont 100 percent agree with each other with what is a road and what isnt(the navman had its own idea on what is a road) so i followed the navman into the bush to where i thought it was taking me to Yeagarup lake.... it had its own idea so i switched to ozi explorer and followed the tracks that looked the right way to get somewhere near the beach, i think (well actually now know) that i went around in a bit of a circle and for about 40 minutes and followed a few chicken tracks because of a couple of big big trees that had fallen (a bit of damage when an uprooted tree root caught my rear door plastic wheel arch so it broke off...not to worry will order a new one tomorrow).
after arriving at the track i should have started on and we were back on "track"....
we cruised to the rangers station and paid our fee to enter the park and followed the signs directions in letting down the tyres there..... still not sure what we were up for..
a little further on we pass some great scenery with the lake

and i was still wondering why i had to let tyres down until behind the trees we could see a really impressive sand dune and as we cruised on a bit further i see a bit of a sand hill so i start to casually cruise on up it and as it vears right i then realise i am not just going to casually cruise up it...(now i know why my tyres are right down) so i reverse up and use the right foot for what it is intended, and do the first stage of the dune..... then attempt the second which stage of it after round some scrubs/trees and without enough momentom and also quite rutted due to alot of people before me, so it is back to reversing back a bit and on with the lockers, then i was at the top of the quite impressive dune and this dune was well marked with poles to follow...really good.

After a few kms of dunes and then some more tracks and then dunes again
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj154/rottodiver/4wd/th_IMG_0513.jpg
i came to what seemed like getting close to the beach, i just had to find a way down so i turned left........ again wrong.... after a couple kms of soft sand dunes and a couple of dead ends i came back to where i went left and went right....
cruised down to the beach... then turned around and came back up to get a camp spot and found one
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj154/rottodiver/4wd/th_IMG_0497.jpg
after setting up camp i realised somewhere along the dunes or track my MSA backpack has somehow come off my spare wheel with all my never used large ironman recover gear and ropes and pegs etc(this has never failed me before but somehow it was now gone.... great score for who ever found it)
it was quite late now so we had a few drinks and enjoyed just sat around and enjoyed being out with nature..... a fire would have been great but full fire ban so that was out of the equation!!
the following morning we went for a walk along the beach and saw quite a few people around and a group of cars that turned out to be "Western Patrol Club". Didn't do alot of 4wding down on the beach but did plenty of swimming and walking and drinking.
enjoyed a really nice sunset that evening...

this morning we woke to lot of dew and fog/mist on the hill which looked great
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj154/rottodiver/4wd/th_IMG_0496.jpg
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj154/rottodiver/4wd/th_IMG_0493.jpg
so the time came to pack up and we heard from a few guys the track was getting quite rough getting out so we expected the worst!!
turned out to be fine!!!!! and really nice drive back to where we started

so i put air back into my tyres and had a look around hoping there was a "found" note somewhere for my stuff..(was never that confident but you never know) and while we were airing up a bunch of hoones doing burnouts and flying along the tracks turned up to fill there tyres to be caught up with by the ranger who was checking everyones permits to see they all paid..... hahaha to them none of them had so they were suddenly scrambling for change to pay the ranger.... brought a smile and then at that moment watched the boys and girls from Western Patrol club cruise by again... some nice rigs the there!!!!!
