Hi All,
Found an interesting issue on my GQ Y60 with 24V.
Someone had wired a trailer power system from half way up the battery.
All nicely fused etc.
24V relays for each function installed by the bottle jack.
All nicely done.
BUT...
It unbalances the battery charge. The 'lower' battery is flattened a little.
The overall battery voltage is pulled down a little.
The alternator increases the charge.
The 'top' battery colapses.

Not a good idea.
We have moved the 12V tap to 24V and changed to 24V lamps.
Easy fix.
Expensive battery repair.

Dave.

That is the best way , we have similar problems with 24v trucks batteries never charge at the same rate once you tap 12v off.

I agree with the above.

With 24 volt vehicles, you either need to run 24 volt accessories or 12 volt accessories via a voltage reducer.

If you just tap 12 volt accessories off one battery, you will forever have battery problems and shorten the life of the batteries.

Hi
You could run a battery equalizer that takes the 24volts and recharged the 12v battery, but if it was me i would get a trailer reducer you just connect all the lights to it in 24volts and it outputs 12volts.

Redarc, 24 to 12v reducer for the trailer wiring!
