1/2 hour fat chance, not legally anyway. Where about's in west Sydney are you from?

Closest you probable have is, zig zag, newnes, lithgow. Penrith river was a excellent spot for a quick play, a couple of good river crossings, nice drive up 2 a lookout....... but now there is bollards, gates, padlocks everywhere.

Only other option is 2 travel north to the Watagans, but still not 1/2 hr drive.

Unfortunately know 4x4 parks in Sydney.

Cheers

theres a few day trips along bells linf of road depending on where you live. try this site http://www.4x4earth.com.au/trackslist.html
i have found that has some good info but have a hunt around and try and find something newer for a few tracks.

Some idea are Bilpin to Mt Irvine, weenie creek (check the spelling on that) or for a day of just playing try vineyards

I was out there the other day and it has had gravel put on it. But the rest of the area is still good for a play

That would also be known as the Dropzone, It is owned by the Defence Force and they used the land for practice drops

Driving there is illegal and police do frequent there often especially on dirt bikes so be prepared for a fine.

Bellie did you mean vineyard bush .
Our house backed on to that when i was a kid grew up riding trail bikes through there 20 years ago and driving paddock bashers we had our own demo derbies as well was great fun.
As for the drop zone last time i was out there we come across the army doing practice drops they just asked us to stay away from the clearing.
Didn't realize you could be fined.

From what I have heard, the army are usually ok as long as you stay away while they are doing the drops, I have heard more so the police will fine you for being in there, Especially unreg dirtbikes. Needless 2 say it is trespassing and you could be fined

the best part of the drop zone was locked of some years ago when i was still in sydney,,,, dont get caught in that area as you will get heavily fined in there the rest isnt worth much. there is a small area to play in behind riverstone and the windsor rd. next would be Menia but i have heard the locals have sold it to developers so i dont know about access 4wd ass used to manage accxess there for the land council for 4wd clubs. another track close to wst sydney might be a bit more then half an hour though is Commeroy rd up behind wheeny ck if you got there be prepared for body damage it is not for the light hearted everything else is over an hour or 2 away
