Help with my 3lt

Hi Guys
I have a standard 3lt turbo it's 01 but has an 04 motor it had been changed before we got it. What are some things I can do to improve the performance with out spending a fortune? I'm happy to have a crack myself but wouldn't know where to start.

First thing I would/did do would be the engine saver mods (catch can, block EGR, clean MAF sensor and inlet, fit boost and pyro gauges, fit dawes and needle valve).
Then to make it go better a performance exhaust and engine chip.
