The remote head for my GME 3520 is mounted below the heater controls, the main body of the radio is mounted under the passengers seat. The remote head was in the way of the subtank switch (which was always a pain to get at anyway).

So I moved the Radio aerial up/down switch back one spot and moved the subtank switch to where that switch was. I did this because the wiring loom for the subtank switch would reach this spot without stretching, and the aerial switch had plenty of excess cable.

For those that haven't pulled out their console there are two screws either side of the front of the console and one below the ash tray. Pull out the console (Screw off gear nobs first) and you will see two screws holding in the panel where the subtank switch is mounted, undo and pull forward and down, two clips on top edge will come out easily. You can now get at the subtank switch and cable easily.

The switch blank from the console goes back into the subtank "hole".

I also moved my driving light switch up to the blank spot beside the instrument lights dimmer switch, to pop the panel required levering on the bottom and left hand edge. The switch required a bit of trimming top and bottom to fit into the indented panel.

All up it took me about 30 mins and cost nothing. The convenience of having the subtank switch within easy reach, and able to be seen is well worth the effort i think.

Nice one TimE, I agree the sub tank switch is in a Dumb spot from the factory, you cant see it and dont know when it is finished. I like your alternative. I might swap out the driving light switch for an ARB style switch though but this will be done next time i have it all off.

Did this on a mates GU a while back while fitting his UHF & hard wiring the cigarette sockets. He was stoked. I can't for the life of me work out why you'd put it back there in the first place. The antenna switch on the other hand ... different matter, not like anyone's going to wear one of those out.
