View Full Version : rear drawers / dual battery

hey guys.

I'm knocking up some rear drawers for the gq. The drawers will house the sub / amp / speakers against mid row seats, and hopefully a duel battery in the rear. This leads to my question.

Has anyone built rear drawers, and set it up for a duel battery, in the wing on driver side?
The idea is to make the wings on both sides 250mm. Will this be wide enough for the battery tray / box/ battery?
In short, i am chasing width / length / depth of dual battery set ups.

any help appreciated here.

not sure on the dimensions, but i know trolatron built a really neat set of drawers for his SWB, the side compartments from memory did what you wanted to know, otherwise there are dozens of drawer setups and ideas for what you need, just do a forum search

I'm only just guessing but I think you'll need 200mm x 300mm for the battery.

The 250mm gap your got is perfect but from the corner to the wheel arch will be definitely under the 300mm mark unfortunately.

yeah i was thinking that. I was originally going to put battery pasenger side, however wheel arch on drivers side dips down. I'm hoping a tray and sit above the dip in arch

I think you'll only need an extra 80-100mm so you wouldn't really need the tray to be over the arch too. Maybe only an inch or so spacer off the ground would be enough and run the tray into the curve of the arch would be fine....If that makes any sense...LMAO

Like Rusty Nail said this is what Ive done to put my compressor on.You can see where the wheel arch is cut away.
The place where you want to put your battery measures 300 x 190 on mine which is just enough for a battery but you could sacrifice another inch from the daw width to make the gap wider if needed.

ozzyboy looks like it will be a very neat setup, if i was going to put a second battery in the back of a vehicle i would try and use a sealed or gell type of battery, because they do not give off dangerous gases when they are being charged.
