So here is my pride and joy. It's a 1992 GQ ST, TB42E. Bought it on the 22nd of October and has been brilliant since that day. It had a 3" lift and 33" MTXs when I bought it, and other than that it was stock.

Apart from the UHF, this is how it was when I bought it.

Thanks guys. Yeah she's a great rig!
Haven't been able to start it since Monday... found out that the computer was 2 inches full of water! So I've been waiting for a new ECU. Then I'll have to sort out this leak. Other than that I haven't had a problem with it in the 2 months I've had it.

Bummer - what sort of ECU you getting? Original second hand, or aftermarket? Done a bit of research in that space recently, and the Haltech is ok, but the Wolf seems to be the pick for Patrols - controls every bloody thing at the click of a mouse!!

Winnie
18th December 2011, 04:13 PM
I'm just getting an original one. Don't wanna pay 2 grand for an aftermarket one! It's not like I'll be putting boost through it. I don't see much point in strapping a turbo on a Patrol, if I want a fast car, I'll make a properly fast car.

Furry muff mate and hear you ... the aftermarket ones (unfortunately what I need to get) are bloody expensive ...

Very nice mate, I was just about to buy a GQ with that colour tone many years back...

Winnie
18th December 2011, 08:48 PM
Yeah I love the colour. Originally I wanted black/silver or blue/silver, but they were getting hard to find in the condition I wanted for my price. Saw this, drove up to the other side of Melbourne the day after to look at it, then the day after that I was driving home in it.
Dunno how true it is but the bloke I bought it off reckons that it's a rare Patrol colour, but I've seen it a bit now since I've had mine. There's even another bloke in my tiny town with one the same.

Winnie
19th December 2011, 07:23 PM
Get this... after having my car for an entire week, the mechanic YET AGAIN got the wrong part.
I was in a rush to get to work last Tuesday so called up RACV to get it towed, I didn't have time to work out what was wrong. Took them 4 days to find the water in the ECU and now they aren't gonna have the new one until tomorrow. Something tells me it won't be ready tomorrow.
I hate incompetent mechanics!!!

That sux unfortunately mate!

Yeah your colour isn't "rare" as such but you don't see many around compared to the blue/silver or white, etc.

Winnie
19th December 2011, 08:59 PM
It beyond sucks! At this rate I won't have a car over Christmas!
I've contacted RACV and asked if they could tow the car to Morwell. They said that they will not pay for another tow even after I told them what has happened. They have however marked Morwell as my nearest depot, so it will never again be going to the place it's currently at.
I've had previous trouble with this mob with my old car, took it in with a stuffed coil and asked them to replace it. Yeah no worries I go to pick it up and he says oh no it was the fuel pump that was making it run like a dog. Hmm okay fair enough then... started the car and it was still running like a dog.
So due to their previous incompetence I got a free fuel pump but a car still running like sh!t.

Winnie
20th December 2011, 08:16 PM
Got my car back... took a week but I finally got it back.
With the new ECU it now runs on petrol again and the air con works. Bloody long and painful ordeal but it's probably worth it. Just glad to have my car back so I can get to work on time.

I installed a Stebel Nautilus compact 300Hz air horn today, it sounds great!!

It's so loud, I love it! This is how I ended up mounting it.

Nice horn :D

One thing you might watch out for is the bracket, it will vibrate and eventually break. I would suggest replacing it with something a bit more "heavy duty".

Are those horns legal in Vic?

Winnie
23rd January 2012, 07:28 AM
Air horns are legal in Vic, except for the ones that play a tune.

I fitted some 6" speakers to the front doors and man has it made a difference! Unfortunately 6.5" spacers were all I could get, but maybe that means I'll have to upgrade to 6.5" speaker eventually...

So classy. Mine is pretty much exactly the same as my brother in law's, only difference we can pick is the colour haha. He checked with Nissan and they said his is an ST, either they stuffed up or it's optioned up or something. I'll check his VIN on NissFast.

taslucas
30th July 2012, 08:36 PM
My code comes up all weird and out of order but thanks to 97_gq_lwb and Todd, i think its shows its either a Ti or GR or limited edition (and its not a GR)...

Winnie
30th July 2012, 08:37 PM
What the hell is a GR!? Haha I just wrote down exactly what is on the compliance plate and punched it in the program. Worked without a drama.

The only difference between yours and my brother's is that his is EFI. Other than that (and aftermarket stuff) they are identical.

taslucas
30th July 2012, 08:44 PM
A GR is a european model (Y60). Type GR in youtube you might see one.

All the letters in my code are mixed up. So whats your brothers?

Yeah nice. Tough looking. I'm definitely a fan of the side hoops that protect the lights from branches etc. The more comp ones without those hoops look like they would let the lights get smashed too easy.
And might I add that is a damn good looking snorkel too lol.

My internet is really slow so the pics took forever to upload.

Day started out awesome, got a bit of flex happening straight away.
http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb2017/Winnie/Patrol/DSC00132.jpg

Came across some really cool tracks, got up this hill but had to turn around and go back down because the Daihatsu just couldn't make it.
http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb2017/Winnie/Patrol/20120812_122558.jpg

Then we found this one track. It was f***ing awesome!! Bog holes and hill climbs everywhere, then I got caught in a rut and one of my bloody tyres popped off the bead.

http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb2017/Winnie/Patrol/DSC00140.jpg

http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb2017/Winnie/Patrol/DSC00138.jpg

Had to get down in the mud with the bottle jack (I will never take a trolley jack for granted again) and put the spare on, so I ended up driving home like this.
http://nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/pb2017/Winnie/Patrol/20120812_131440.jpg

I need to get another mud tyre. No damage to the tyre at least, just gotta get it reset and balanced again. I was running 32PSI when it happened, dunno why it popped off. Was a pain in the ass and put an early end to a good day. Changed back to road tyres tonight and I am knackered!

They could be the same size as your headlights. You see it done from time to time and i personally like the look of it. But yeah, basically if any of us guys had them on top of the bar they would get smashed off by tree branches in no time. But it depends where you drive i suppose

the silverstones (as with the centipedes) are a skinnier tyre. 36" are only 10.5" wide and arent really designed to be bagged out with wide rims. They have very strong sidewalls. The centipedes are the weapon of choice for the malaysian jungle rallys.

Winnie
26th September 2012, 08:39 PM
Yeah mine are 10.5" wide on an 8" rim. I've popped a tyre off the bead on these at 30PSI so imagine how many I would have on 10" rims?? Run them at 35PSI now, on road and offroad. Get bugger all benefit from airing them down so hardly worth it.

taslucas

Those eyebolts are not used in recovery or anything, Millweld give a warning when you buy the bar, they say there are basically there to hang your winch hook on.
LED bar would be awesome but they are expensive lol, I wanna have one on top of the bar eventually but would rather a winch first. And thanks for the kind comments lmao

Fawwwk these lights are bright. Went for a little night run tonight, got one spot one spread beam. Will be even brighter with the 55W HID kit I ordered today. Got a couple ideas to mount the in further, one is super easy but might not work, the other is just easy but will work.

Yo mate what colour did you end up getting, noticed you have blue covers so I'm thinking you brought

How would I bolt that on? Lol I'm happy to do a recovery off the hooks I've got, never do big snatches anyway.

Put the HIDs through the Lightforce tonight and holy moley!!!!!!!

Hid ceehrtainly best thing to happen in a while, awesome light output. ah shit forgot to get light bar pic of street at night.
When I get back, I like hooks to, not a big fan of shackle recoveries, just something else to let go.
Yeah I try to avoid big snatches to

I don't thikn I'm gonna need a light bar any more, didn't realise just how bloody bright these HIDs would be! Car comes along, turn high beams off "shyt where'd the sun go?"
Only thing is might take these blue covers back now because 6000k lights and the blue covers is a bit too blue, was good with the halogens going through them but think the HIDs have the same effect so will go to clear ones.

You still need a light bar for the 2 seconds it takes for your HIDs to warm up though surely, better safe than sorry you know.

Thanks you two. Worst part is I turned down two jobs within the last 2 months because I was happy where I was, those positions have been filled too. There's a chance I can be retained at another branch but who knows, can never believe what comes out of the mouths of the higher up people.

Yo Kristoffa never trust the suits, they only look after their butt, Anyway Forgotten how bright those HID are, Driving lights are 75watt ac HID 6000k. headlights are 55 watt HID bi-xenon
6000k parkers are 68 smd LED, and roof light is 240 watts 6000k. Here's the view at night time, the bad pic is my reverse set up IMO awesome, plenty to see out the front too, told you great Lightbar.NB you lose lumens using camera for lights,
