how big of a job is replacing a leaking sump seal on a 2.8 torbo diesel in a GR anyone .. thanks:D

Q: have you tightened it first?

sometimes just firming up the bolts will be sufficent to reseal sump.

i tried that after i couldnt get that bit of casting that overlaps the sump at the gear box end. I removed the bolts but it wouldnt budge. after i tightend them up it got worse. its GR not a GU if it makes a difference.

GR is not a designation we ever used in Australia, we used GQ and GU. Is yours a Y60 or 61?

I have taken the sump off a TD42 with the engine in place, I would have thought this would also be possible with an RD28, but I haven't done it myself so I can't say for sure.
