Dear all,

I am living in middle east and I have Nissan Patrol Super Safari 2006 (JN8FY15Y46X******).

Problem with my car is that, sub tank indicator stays ON and fuel level indicators of both main and sub tank show full all the time. Sub tank switch doesn't function.

Solutions that I have tried are
1. Added grounding wire from battery to chassis - this did not help
2. Disconnected battery for hours, upon connecting back sub tank indicator stays off for some time (Sub tank switch doesn't work during this time also) and lights up again.
3. Disconnected sub tank control unit (below the audio player) same like (2)

Please let me know what could be wrong, before I take it for repair.

Thanks in advance
Regards
Syed

I think you do have an earthing problem, that is why it shows full all the time.
Does it go to empty when ignition is off?
The sending unit at the tank may have lost it's earth.
Let's hope "yendor" sees this post, he's the man for your problem!!
Cheers, the ferret.

Hey Syed,

The first thing I would do is get a test light and check all fuses.

Then do a visual check of the wire harness running to both tanks looking for any sort of damage.

If the above are ok then I would start checking the inputs to the sub tank control unit.

Hope that helps.

Cheers Rodney

Yonder and Ferret thanks for your valuable replies.

Ferret: Yes gauge levels go to zero when ignition is off

I will check what you guys have suggested me to..

Thanks
Syed
