I have a pair of gauges on there way and was hoping to get a few ideas of where to mount them. I have seen a few people put them in the piller.. But was hoping for a few more ideas.. YNOT posted a pic of his set up which was under his CD player, this is pretty cool but was still considering putting the UHF there.. If anyone has them in other places like the dash above the aircon vents or anywhere else.. Any pics would be great :bananarock:

Cheers Steve

You can get a dash pod which goes on top of the dash right in the middle.

Just looked up pod holders on ebay and found these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Carbon-Fibre-Look-Dash-Double-Gauge-Mount-Holder-Pod-52mm-2-inch-NEW-/250925279850?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a6c4fea6a#ht_561wt_952

So heres a stupid question... If I was to go with a Dash pod where do people run the wires? Do they drill in to the dash?

Cheers Steve

I also have the same gauges and my two came with a dash pod, I was planning on running them under my dash mat and then down the back of the dash between the fire wall, well I was hoping that is what I will be able to do. Will let you know how I go, will only be installing them over the xmass hols along with my turbo timer.

This is how I mounted my gauges, an ally plate with counter sunk holes. Routed the wires through a hole right behind the windshield. There are 4 or 5 of the holes with round cover that can easily be pried off.

The only decent place to put a Pyro and Boost is a Pillar Pod to be honest. You want to see the Pyro more than yo want to see the bloody speedo mate, Dont dump it half way down your dash as it will become less relevant and it might just save you car one day.

I have mine in the GQ mounted in the middle and it is good but i have a double pillar Pod in the GUIV and it is perfect.

Yupx3..agreed with you boss. At least pyrometer should be mounted on the dash, best side to side with boost on the pillar.

Yeah Ade i have mine in the exactly the same place as you have and pretty well same design but made a mount above the dash mat for 4 gauges.

In order from driver to left is Boost closest, then Pyro, Water temp, Oil Pressure. Works great but you have to make the decision to turn your head to veiw them, mounted down low you'd have to physically move your head and body to read them.

The Pillar Pod is as simple as checking the speedo, flick of an eye.

Hi. I have mine on a pod in the centre of the dash but would say the pillar pod is the go. I used this as a temporary measure as I know my wife would complain as soon as she got in the car (which she did) and after a short time will have no complaints about me buying a pillar pod. Sneaky. I ran the wires and the tube out the back of the pod and then along the gap between the dash and the windscreen, towards the drivers door, down and then through the fire wall access point near the drivers foot. Will need to remove the drivers side door pillar cover and the drivers side kick plate cover to get to do this. This prevented my drilling any holes in the dash (the pod just sits there at the moment on dash mat - could use seme velcro maybe). In line with my master plan, when I get the pillar pod the tube and wires will run up in to that and will not be seen! You could have the centre pod permanent if you want as the wires etc. are really are not that noticeable anyway. Bets to think first before grabbing the drill I reckon.

I will be ordering this one : http://mcnallyelectronics.com/index.htm as soon as I figrue out whether my 2001 GUII dash lights can be changed to blue. Then I order this one and mount it right in between the speedo and tacho.
