Had a bit of time on my hands after work today and decided to try and find the knock in the front end and the vibration coming threw the steering wheel. It has had a hard week with 2 trips to glasshouse. The problems I have discovered are - Left hand auto hub (stuffed) Not engaging and making the dreaded rattle, Front left hand wheel bearing (on the verge of colapsing), Movment in the right wheel bearing but not that bad, Last but not least, passenger side engine mount (broken). So its time to fix it. AVM HD Manual Hubs, New wheel bearings (both sides), New engine mounts (both sides) and I may even put some new rotors and pads in front while I'm at it.

Cheers

Nice rig, looks tough, especially covered in mud!

Love the look on the little fella's face in the back seat on the 3rd action pic you posted. Looks like he is enjoying the ride! LOL

How do you find the ARB alloy roof rack in regards to wind noise, fuel consumption, quality of build, etc. Any info appreciated.

Also after info on the ARB awning. Are you happy with it and would you recommend this particular awning? Are they as easy to set up as the advertising material would lead you to believe?

Much appreciate your reply

Hi Damo, Thanks for the comments mate. My Son loves to go bush. As for the roof rack, this one suits my every need. you only hear the wind when the sunroof is open and i honestly didnt notice any increase in fuel consumption. but it is a petrol so its thirsty anyway. The awning is quick to set up, i can have it set up before my wife has all the kids out of the car. The main things to look for with an awning is that it has 3 velcrow canvas securing straps down each side to prevent sag, watch some of the cheaper ones as the plastic connections are not designed to flex so they break easy. I could be called bias too, Although the product is great quality and it suits my needs. Obviously i highly recommend them. Cheers and good luck with your decision.

A bit of an update,

I ordered a Front ARB Airlocker yesterday, I proberly won't put it in for a while as I'm going to do the swivel hub seals and king pins at the same time. I already have a rear locker so before i install the front I'm going to put a 9500 pound Bushranger winch into the Bullbar (Bushranger have a deal that you get a free set of HID spotties with every winch Bought) and there a good quality winch with solid state electrics.
Other items to be done prior to the October Meet are - Snorkel, Rocksliders, Exhaust, UHF and Rear Awning. (most of all repair the broken aircon Pipe)

Cleaned The MAF, O2 Sensor, Dizzy and rotor button today, Not much of a difference. Once I run a tank of juice through it, that might tell the story then. I also decided to run a bit of Lucas injector cleaner through it. Just to see if that helps with economy.

When pulling the hubs off to put the front locker in, I found that the drivers side hub had torn the dust Cover off the inner seal and started rip the back out of the seal. Throughout the week I could hear a rubbing noise in the same hub. Pulled it apart yesterday and it had done it again, this time it only took 1week to destroy it. I have tried to tap the bearing cone in further and the seal pushed in about 3mm further than the last. Hoping this one doesn't rip out. But I'm not confident.

New spindle on, Like new now. $446 later. New set of extractors and a 2.5" mandrel bent sports exhaust with a hi-flow cat went on last week. Made a huge difference. Better on the highway, no more kick back on every slight incline. It cruises really well with a bit better take off. Very happy with the result. I also installed a GME TX3420 UHF with a AE4705 Ariel. Then I put a full locking kit on my Spotlights to keep them theives at bay. I wacked a couple of new front body mounts in and that improved the feel of the ride.

OK Heres a few pics after I spent hours on it today washing and polishing it. I tried a new product from turtle wax (not a product I usually use) but its quick and easy and works a treat. I even managed to get rid of a few bush pin stripes. Its called ICE Polish, more a quick detailer i think. Any ways heres a few pics with the new winch.

The LS1 conversion has started. 4.5L Engine is Sold and will come out in a couple of weeks. This conversion will not happen over night. I work 6 days a week and have 4 kids, so that takes up most of my time. I'll do bits and pieces when I get a chance. I'm looking at a finish date of around June/July. Although I want it to look factory, so I want it to be A1. So I will post up pics and info as I go.

Pics are of the Gearbox and engine after degreasing and the new sump going on.

Bit of an update - I just ordered -B&M Pro Rachet shifter, New NGK Iridium Plugs, New MSD 8.5mm Leads, New Bosch O2 sensors, Lokar dipstick, Mr gasket Extractor gaskets and new PCV hoses. I have also organised for the hose doctor to come around and sort out the high pressure power steer hose on Tuesday. I have also ordered modified hose connection for the aircon pump and some brake line heat shields from Marks 4WD Adapters. For the record - Elliot @ Marks has been fantastic. He sorted my radiator hose issue out, with out hesitation. He couldn't do enough for me. Before I would hang up on the phone, he always made sure I understood the answer thoroughly to my questions.

I have also sent the 2 wiring harnesses of to Steve @ Killa Kustom Kables on tuesday. Should have them back in a couple of weeks. All graphed together, Vats removal and a 3way switch and loom incorporated for the thermos.

Done about 80% off the running the wiring today. I need to buy some adapters for the temp and oil pressure sensors, so I can run the Nissan sensors. One spot I'm not sure of is the reverse fuse that is ment to be in the fuse box beside the battery. (From the Killa Kustom Kable instructions) there is no fuse there for reverse as per the top of the box. Can some one help me out with that? I've also ordered a nice looking momentary switch that is required for the power/economy, this should just replace the factory option on the console. I have checked things so far and I have dash lights and fuel pressure, so that's pretty exciting to see!! LOL.

Are you running an electric water pump?
There used to be a guy John Bennet [retired] who enhanced OE water pumps from using pi$$y little pressed steel fans to using actual impellors.
He also had parts made to house the thermostat in the bottom hose. I hope I can find all his Paper work, this same guy designed the cooling systems on the V8 race cars.
He may have a web site not sure but a very talented guy with heaps of knowledge gone to waste. I had one of his systems on my cast iron 350 chev 4x4, you could idle all day with the aircon on,
that's how good his system was, He had systems to suit motor HP motors

Great day and the new Superior hybrid superflex arms work a treat. So smooth on the beach. As you can see by how much the camera was moving!! But when you spend close to 6k on a complete new suspension system, you would be disappointed if it wasn't yeah!! LOL. It was great to finally see some other V8 patrols out there!! We made quite a rumble up the beach!!
