Hi all

Does anyone know the tacho pulse frequency on 2.8td. I am trying to connect a GM tacho pulse to the nissan tacho. I have tried to connect it together and the tachometer goes straight to 5000rpm.

Thinks

Get in contact with this mob: http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/showthread.php?300-Marks-4wd-Adaptors

They have a range of interface units to integrate the factory taco in with a retro fitted engine at around the $160ish mark, other then that its an after market taco.

You may need to find another taco to suit your model in a petrol mate & go from there if you want to keep it factory.

Mark talked about that as well. I have found a shop here back home that can make for me a frequency converter and he has done it before for patrol but he cant remember the pulse frequency for the 2.8td, if I can get somewhere the pulse freq which the 2.8td runs then I am good. Problem is as well I dont know anyone that owns a 2.8 patrol which would be good then I would just borrow it and measure the frequency.

Have you tried a 1/2 watt veritable resistor (trim pot) to trim the taco? (Ive done this on past units)

Something like this.

Image is a tad small but you get the idea

I don't know if this will help you, but a td42 produces 30hz @ 600 rpm, 60hz @ 1200 rpm and 90hz @ 1800 rpm.

I am looking at building a frequency converter to interface a td42 with a zd30 tacho so I got the oscilloscope out the other day. :) seeing that the td42 sensor works ok with a rd28 tacho I an guessing the cycles are the same.

By GM do you mean General Motors?
Is the tacho signal coming from an ECU?

The resistor can reduce the voltage, but it won't change the frequency, and you may need to do both.

Have a look at Dakota Digital http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=results/Category_ID=287/home_id=59/mode=cat/cat287.htm
