Radio with a SD card reader and usb port plus an Aux input, no CD player but at least with a SC reader and usb the tracks wont jump when you are off roading - i have no connections with the company and i suspect its the same guy selling them - if i can help should you fancy one, give me a shout!!

Just bought one for myself, i guess it will take a week or so to get my hands on it, will let you know how it goes.

What you can do also is install a 24 to 12v 10amp reducer ($80), and then you are free to install any head unit you want. Use a 24v relay to switch power off the reducer as well. So basically you have 12v constant and 12v accessories.

Hi Guys
The cost of a 24v-12v reducer is for me a waste of time, its too easy to rack up 10A at 12V, - it is what it is, I choose to use the 24v gear where possible

Freedom of choice, and personal preference, just making people aware these things exist (they are quite hard to find) and offering to help obtain one if required.

Agreed with using 24v gear when possible, but as you have said, 24v gear is hard to come by / limited in what is available. I work in car audio doing cars, trucks, caravans, boats, buses, etc and we use these reducers all the time, because usually the customer wants a certain model device that isn't 24v. I quite often have to put sat navs, cameras, screens and dvd units into 24v trucks & buses and have used up to 5 of these in 1 vehicle. (we only carry 10amp units).

It does get messy, and I personally do prefer to find a 24v unit when I can, but sometimes (quite often) there isn't one.

Also.. Most trucks & buses that are 24v do have their own reducer in them, but they are usually a piddly 2-4amp job. Mainly only for phone chargers. Not sure about the safaris....

Let us know how she goes when she's installed.

Cheers
