I can't answer all your questions but AFAIK the patrol has towing rating of around 3500kg so 2500 is less than 80% of the max towing rating so it should be safe.
The transmission already has a cooler when you open the bonnet you will find smaller radiator in front of the main one.
Towing Mirrors and airbags depend on your load some get rear springs with higher rating but stock should do fine unless you want better performence.

Hi mate, welcome to the forum.

You really only need towing mirrors if the trailer is wider than the car.

The Y62 pulls like a train mate and that tow weight is pretty low. You won't really know it's there.

Hi Cam,

I think all bar one question has been answered, "can I tow in top gear", this is a psychological barrier associated with the old "over drive" gear in a manual gear box.

When I tow with my Y62, there are two items worth considering:
1) leave the gear box in auto or use sports / selectable mode, when towing I always use the selectable option and the gear box in auto makes some big gear changes whilst on cruise control (cruising at 1800 rpm then up to 5,000 rpm to go over a tiny incline),
2) I cruise at about 1800-2,000 rpm, doing this reduces HP available to the engine and in turn reduces fuel consumption (remember the ECU is always running the engine as lean as possible and the higher power is available at higher rpms).
