Hi all,

I picked up the new beast tonight and I am pretty happy, she is a Petrol/Gas 4.2 manual and would like to know the general opinion on which diff, gearbox and engine oil to use. The car has done 240k. Any and all comments welcome. As with all my cars I like to know where I am starting from.

thanks Travo

Castrol are a good way to go with The heavy geared components

I would say that as long as you use the correct types and grades of fluids, changing fluids regularly is more important than is using a specific brand.

I beg to diff there mate... Brands play a big roll in the protection offered to your metal bits.

Hi Travo

I also have efi 4.2, have been running synthetic, Nulon has the right weight. So far seems good, comes out clean after 10k. Have also converted to dual oil filters and oil cooler with thermostat. I figure the more oil capacity the better.

x2 & yea castrol (vmx80) have good oils for the gearbox & transfer anyway. Penrite limslip 140 in the diffs. I use delo 400 in the eng but mines diesel.

Hi all,

Is there a list of the stuff the factory recommends anywhere.

Thanks

Travo.

Yes Patch 1/2 of my work has it not the greatest, back at work today it is just easier than getting the 20 phone calls a day.
