Hi all

i just bought a GQ with 60, 000 on the clock great lil find... however all was good untill i went and put my uniden uhf radio / scanner in...... wired it up the same as i normally do taking the power from the back of the radio so it only comes on when accs do. However when i did it i blew the tail lamp fuse. when i disconect the wirring for it, it dont blow the fuse the radio is has its own inline fue and it dont blow and the radio on a seperate fues to the tail lamp..... any ideas to try before i go to the auto electrician?

Hi Tom,

Did you use the pink with black trace wire as the earth for the UHF?

This is not an earth it is a park light feed.

Connect the earth for the UHF straight to a body panel.

Welcome aboard.... Please stop in to our Introductions section & post up an intro about youself...

In answer to your question:

Are you using the ground wire from the head unit (radio cassette) as well???

Try interdependently grounding the UHF & if that doesn't fix it then you will need to find the earth/ground wire on the head unit cut it & independently ground the head unit as well.

This will stop the fuse from blowing
