Recon mission

As most of you are aware, one of our QLD moderators and regulars is planning a trip to our lovely state..
And of course, he needs to visit some of our beautiful countryside, Victorian style.
So, I will be going up on the Friday, 25th to do some prospecting and Roofy is going to come up on the Saturday. Anyone else interested? will work out more details as time goes on..

went to Talbotville today, just because we can..
What a beautiful spot !!
The track in was sloppy in some places and I used 4L most of the way, just to save my brakes ! Very steep and rough in places.

Can I just say, that in our beautiful little state, we do not have the luxury of man-made 4x4 parks, nor the luxury of all of us living close enough to go out more often, to enjoy our favourite past-time.
we have to drive sometimes hours, to get to an area, that we still need to drive 15kms in 4L, with thick natural vegetation on one side, and the most stunning looking drop-off on the other, to get to the lush green camping ground beside a fresh, clean running river full of trout.
We must do what we love in the great australian bush, whatever it throws at us..
AND if the next meet-ups happen to be at Murchison, or Bendigo or even as far south as the stunning Grampions, I will put in the hours to drive there, cos I love my state, and want to see more of it !!
( is this making any of you guilty enough?)
Hope to meet some more new faces....

well said kat i (we) agree on this %100 percent we love to meet ppl travel to meets and on our own
but some times work does get in the way
thats why we give everybody atleast a couple of months to get organized,unfortuantly some for get till the last minute
i know our weather is not the best but come on guys and gals our last turn out was good lets make this better
we are sadly lagging be hind our qld cousins

Lol never been to Talbotville before!!! My driving skills are okay - used to drive a Rav4 and got that up a Double Back Diamond with no damage what so ever and heaps of other tracks - even had to rescue a Holden Jackaroo when it got bogged and was supposed to be my rescue vehicle hehehehehhehe!!

Guys i woud really really love to come to this but have a Mt Skene boys Swag trip the week end before and a family snow trip the weekend after and stuck in the middle is this Talbotville meetup. i just cant swing it..

Hmmmm.... the GQ or the GU? I'd definitely take the GUIV for cruising through the high country. But if you were keen to chase some of the wild side up that way let me know and i will be firing up the GQ for sure. When the going gets real tough i bring out the big guns and the GQ is a Monster!

long story short - I have a bucket handle cartiledge tear in my left knee - needs yearly operations, anyway I was fixing the car yesterday after the weekend when the knee locked and as a result is now swollen and very painful. Hoping it is okay for the weekend cause I am so looking forward to it!!

There were steep and very steep hills to climb (some covered in loose rocks) and about 20 river crossings, I would recommend that if you get a chance you should join Kat and Roofy up at Talbotville.
