As some may know one of the top 3 complaints to Nissan is the paint flaking off and taking big chunks of paimt with it,
I am on a couple of Y62 pages and it is a probl3m.and see questions every day about it...i know
My car had less than 10000km it's first service I mentioned it...the dealer had heard nothing
I mentioned to them that on Y62 FB pages it has been discussed and told them that alot of dealerships do not know about it...so the service manager looked and up got back to me and said yes their is a bulliten and they have to follow certain steps in order to get it as warrenty...at this point I emailed pictures so I had a paper trail
No problem, I asked if I could see the document but we the public are.not allowed but they assured me that yes Nissan Australia has released a bulletin....So the next service asked for them to check it out and sent them more photos,I include these here
Then they had my car for the day as they have to measure, circle, count and take pictures a d get 2 quotes
Now on these FB pages so many people say their dealerships are shit and tell them to go to panel beaters and get quotes then come back and say can't prove they aren't caused by stone chips....
The dealer had to take photos of my car including accessories and they had to get pics of the original rims.tyres side steps the lot.....otherwise they have a case maybe who knows.
here is pics if my 6month old carhttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/11.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/12.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/13.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/14.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/15.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/16.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/17.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/18.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/19.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/20.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/21.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/22.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/23.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2020/08/24.jpg

Holy crap mate that is atrocious! For the money that is absolutely unacceptable.
Best of luck with it all and I hope it turns out to be a full respray for you, which it should be.

Yeah mate it looks like it is,inside and out,the painter told them.they can't do a close door as the chips inside doors, that another problem, not to many can do it as every panel needs to come off, glass out and all new plastics, bumpers front and rear and mirrors, apparently the front windows are expensive as shit because they have sensors
My dealer sent me to Busselton 150km away as No shop in our town wanted it as it would take up to much room and time and they have insurance jobs....one guy has over 50 jobs on his books
The dealerships here ha e been helpful,I am just waiting for one more quote and for Nissan to tick it off..they have done 3 in Busselton already

Wow that's a 25k job. Nissan will be regretting cutting costs on the paint now.

Sent from my SM-G986B using TapatalkI reckon they either Friday cars or Monday cars
Although the dealer said something about the clear coat used,it pulls tight on the paint and the slightest knock pull the paint off,I got shown tiny little bubbles in the clear coat that I didn't even notice
Others say it's the eco paint
Some say it was left to long between undercoat and first coat

I wrote this up as Darren asked, hopefully it helps,

It is disheartening to read your woes Avo & Family as this Y62 weapon was truly a well earned dream of brand loyalty that many of us wish for oneday too [emoji106][emoji106]
Fortunately you’ve got the gettup & go to get rectifications underway ASAP.
A failure needs to be owned, not swept away, like some bubbly dashboards I once read about somewhere on Toyota’s I think [emoji848]

OK, put in a warranty issue at the 60,000km service. They took photos - I took more and sent them to the dealership. The dealership (Phillip, Canberra) did all the ringing around and getting quotes based off the photo's. Came back with Nissan accepting the full respray for a total of >$9000.

Can't ask for more than that. It goes in on 14 September for two weeks. Will get the mob doing it and see if a S4 can be done in Hermosa Blue or a dark green (knowing that internal doors, engine bay etc will be kept in original colour).

Crikey! This is just staggering. You'd be cranky about this on any new car let alone something the price of a Patrol.
I'm currently "negotiating" (or trying to on a new Ti - they want $85K and are telling me how many they're selling, how they don't discount but might throw in tinting or floor mats...). I fuss over my cars so this paint issue is an absolutely massive concern.

How common is the problem?? Are there any particular colours that are immune to the problem??

Thanks

cheersG'day mate,I didn't get it resprayed a second time no,I could have sent it back to the original shop to be rectified but I refused, after 10months nissan agreed to rebuffed at another shop that also do nissan work, they did have to respray the bonnet.....as far as I know the local shop agreed to put a few dollars on other spray jobs as nissan Australia wouldn't agree to pay twice....I'll also say that a car got resprayed after mine at the same shop and the bloke refused to take it back and nissan bought it back off him
Cheers
