NOOO, BARS add character.. mind you, still scratch my head in wondering why they gave them CHROME side mirrors.. I mean, sort of clashes with everything else, would be a bit like putting fluffy dice on the barrel of a Abrams Tank

Hmm, how do I fit an Abrams turret and barrel, and what colour dice would suit :-)

The MQs, MKs and G60s have a lot of character and appeal. I had an MQ L28 wagon for a while. Had a lot of fun. GQ's coil sprung ride and functioning aircon are nice, though :-)

The metal dash and old style seats, from my Mate's G60 and my well rounded physique had my knees a bit close for comfort, too.

Getting soft in my old age!

Thanks again for sharing!!!!

I am often impressed at the love and attention lavished on some of the earlier Patrols I see around the place.

Thanks for sharing pics and words, loving it!

Guys i've been looking to your cars and i realized that extended shackles + body lift is enough for you.

I'm right or you need to do some extra modifications to fit 33's ?

oldcarsmaniac

I need just extended shackles (work in process) + 3.5cm wheels spacers and the boggers will spin without rubbing anywhere! It's enough for a "poor" SD33T! :)

Great images guys.

My brother in law had a 86 MQ back about 7 years ago, boy was that thing a monster. He had raised it about 5 inches, had 33" muddies on it, it was a Diesel and I actually saw him use it as a tank, knocking burnt cars out of our way and making a new track, trees where knocked down and everything with it.

To this day I still believe the MQ's are one of the best Patrol's Nissan ever produced.

I'd have to agree there mate. Although the 86 models is an MK. Same diff though. I had an MK and stupidly sold it when I was building my first house so I would have extra money to put into the house. But I never need the extra money in the end and the guy I sold it too wouldn't sell it back to me :(
This was my MK around 18 years ago, just before it went in for 2inch lift, 2inch body lift and 33inch BFG's on black sunnies. It was the Anniversary Edition, so it had full velour trim, even the canopy was lined, the canopy on the back was NOT fibreglass but metal and painted to the color of the car. And it also had factory suspension seats.

I sorely miss this car more than anything...

That is one sweet truck mate. I never had a MK/MQ myself, but they seriously knew what they were doing when they designed them. Thanks for posting up the images, she was a really clean truck.

My wife who is looking for a 4WD now is thinking of getting an old MK/MQ and fixing it up. Maybe getting two and using the second one as a donor vehicle. There are some out there that are in pretty bad condition but at good prices. I tell you what, she does get one, I'd be tempted to nick it off her. lol.

She's a beauty, hopefully she's still on the road somewhere out there.
I have one very similar. '86 model, silver, steel canopy, deluxe interior, L28. (I'm guessing yours was L28, I don't see any diesel or turbo stickers)
The 86+ deluxe shorties are the ones to go for, so I got another. The white 86 SD33T above.

Hi m8'ts! My name is Michael, from Poland.
I am making my spanish k260 4th time - each time new body. This time we have problem with electricans in Poland, noone want to help me with electricity. Some documentation is needed -- everything else is done, I can drive it (without sensors, lights, wipers motor, warming) but it goes. I have found here some pdf's, but putting welcome is needed, so HI. Wish me luck, this spanish version is rare, and I will never change it.

Hi mate. Welcome to the forum. Not many MK/ MQ owner left unfortunately. If you need a manual. Try the link below, they could possibly send you one. Not as good as the original but they are still good books to have regardless.
