Just wondering if anyone has been to Harrys Hut somewhere near Kin Kin (Cooloolah coast) i think ? I have heard it is easy 4 wheel driving and you can camp there, can anyone give me some info on what to expect, is there firewood etc ?? Thanks in advance.

I haven't been there for years, but have taken the tinny under electric power and camped up at campsites 2 and 3.

It is in a National Park so they won't provide firewood and may not even accept fires now - have a look on Dept of Natural Resources (or whatever they are called now) website. It was 2wd in when we last camped at Harry's, but as above that was a long time ago, and may be weather dependant.

Nice spot and I used to swim in the river until I thought about the number of bull sharks, and the illustration of one at Kinaba info centre

If you plan a trip to Harry's Hut, it may be best to consider the weather before and during your stay.

We went to go to Harry hut 2 weeks ago, on our way up to Rainbow Beach, Cooloola Way (the road to get to Harrys hut) was closed due to recent wet weather at the time.

Apparently it does not take much rain to turn Cooloola Way into a muddy mess (so it can get closed after heavy rain), and it also has a couple of water crossings to consider, so best driven in the more dryer conditions.

Good idea to check Cooloola conditions report HERE (http://www.derm.qld.gov.au/parks/cooloola/)before you leave (updated every 2 weeks), if you plan to camp at Harrys, you may need to book as well as get permits (follow the link for more info)
