Hi guys hope it's ok to post this here.

Anyway.... I might be selling a patrol and just wanna get your opinion on my situation any feedback is appreciated!

OK here goes.

At the moment I have 5 cars at my house with only two drivers.
I've got a 2006 commodore auto, '99 GU patrol manual, '88 celica manual, '99 hyundai excel manual, and of course my GQ. - Not selling :D

Now we have the commodore (belonged to my step-dad but he passed away late last year and now it's still getting paid off so it needs to go) & excel for sale on carsales etc but they haven't budged for a couple of months.
Hence why I am considering selling the GU because I know there would be a lot of interest.
The patrol belongs to my mother (I don't know why - maybe she thought she would be cool to get one or something?)

The specs are:
1999 GU 4.5 ST Petrol/Gas Manual and it has just passed it's 200k mark.
Extras include dual batteries, TJM winch bar, side steps, IPF spotties, near new BF a/t's it runs perfect and barely gets driven because she takes the train to the city everyday (again I say wtf?) Anyway I was just wondering how much you think I'd get for it and any other options you think I might go for as we are getting pretty desperate to get rid of them.

Thanks for reading!

Hi Sammy, I would put it on for around what Roofy suggested. have a look above at what they are selling for and yours has less km's then all of these so start at 18k and see what happens.

Redbooks estimates don't seem to be right in the Patrol series...

Not trying to be smart but if you go onto ebay and look at Auction Prices only you will see Prices are a lot lower than the Car Yards.

But having said that you can always put it on Ebay with a Low starting Price and a high Reserve and see what happens

Redbook has no idea what the price of a good used patrol should be. I would advertise for $18k and then come down from there. People always think they are getting a bargain if they knock some money off the price of a sale.

Hey Sammi,

Sell the GQ and keep the GU for yourself! :D haha.

Regarding the Commodore and Excell, common cars are hard to sell. Unless they are absolutely remarkable examples, people tend to graze over them. If carsales isn't working, try eBay with both cars and start the bidding at a low figure. Make sure to put a reserve on it so it doesn't sell for like a $1.00 haha. If eBay is a lost cause, you can try parking it out on a main corner somewhere with for sale signs on them.

With the commodore, you could ask your local Holden dealer if they'd buy it off you. They'll probably stooge you a bit on price, but if you want to get rid of it, some money is better than none. You could also target P-Platers with the Excell as a first car. So if you know any friends wanting a first car, start the hard sell. Also, tell them to spread the news that you have some cars for sale.

As for the Patrol, majority of "hardcore" 4WD'ers will stay away from the 4.5L's due to them being a bit underpowered and un-economical. Sorry 4.5L GU owners, just repeating what I've read on various forums. 4WD enthusiasts who tend to put large tyres on and go to the bush purely to find really hard tracks will either want a 4.8L GU, a 4.2TD GQ/GU.. or a V8.
I would advise not trying to sell the 4.5L GU as a hardcore 4wd machine but more of the perfect tourer. From my experience, they are generally cheaper than the 4.8's and definitely cheaper than the 4.2TD's.

As Warnie said, you could start a little higher and come down, but If i was looking for a 4.5L GU patrol with that many km's on it, I wouldn't expect to pay more than around $17,000 realistically, as long as it was in great condition and the mods were suitable. There's a 4.5L GU for sale with 163,000km's on it and it's priced at $18,000 just for your info.

Good Luck!

Thanks guys I think I'll wait out a little longer and see what happens with the smaller cars, they are all in great condition never had problems with any of them. Just gotta find the right people to advertise to!
The excel was my first manual while I was learning and it's never seen a mechanic (apart from services etc) so I thought it would be the easiest to get rid of.. Apparently not.
I'll post up the others I have for sale up on this forum as well and see how we go.
