Knocked off work early Friday afternoon and headed off to Beachport SA.

Beachport is between Robe and Port MacDonnell being closer to Robe. If you know Robe, Beachport is like Robe's poorer relation, but that's where it's advantage lies, in that it's not as busy or as touristy, but is equally as pretty.

Arrived in Beachport about 6:00PM. It had been a shocker of a day with strong wind and rain all day & the day before. We were going to tent it, but smartly changed to a cabin.

Anyway, the weather was cold and windy all weekend, but that didn't take away from the relaxation factor, it may have helped it as the town was very quiet.

Saturday morning, around 8:00AM, we caught the last of the sunlight before the clouds rolled in ...

Later that morning, we took a drive along the Bowman Scenic Drive, which is recommended should you ever find yourself in Beachport.

Took some photos while gawking at Post Office Rock. From standing on what looks like a man made, or maybe just enhanced breakwater, that goes from the beach to the rock, to the right ...

and to the left ...

After Leaving Beachport on Sunday morning to head home, we stopped in at Southend and spent time there looking and walking. The following photos are from around the coast at Southend.

Bloody fantastic area, isn't. It takes a few posts like yours to remind me of how beautiful our backyard is.

Yep it is. Took us just a little under 2 hours to get there. Don't know why we don't go there more often?? We plan to from now on.

People at the caravan park said the best time is Feb & March, weather is still warm and the kids are back at school.

Looks awesome 10G !
I watched a whole lot of Y62's somewhere on Youtube do a trip somewhere along that area... They drove some sand dunes etc... Looked amazing.

Wasnt last New years forum trip somewhere there? I think Mudrunner and Mudski went there somewhere or nearby.

Yeah, I'm not sure where that trip was Hodge, but yep it's really pretty. Went and took a look at Woakwine cutting, didn't take any pics, so here's a link:

Largest single man engineering feat in the known universe or similar. Bloke wanted to drain his paddock of all the goo on it so her cut a groove through a hill that was between his paddock and a lake lower down.

Don’t go claiming it as your backyard, remember there is a border you have to cross.
